I get this same error too.

I'm seems to just pop-up randomly.

(iMac 20-inch, Early 2008, OSX 10.7)

I've found the root cause - it's the Apple backupd daemon (which provides the Time Machine functionailty).

I don't have a fix at the moment.

I have the same problem.

Definitely related to time machine - maybe something to do with Lion's local snapshots? I don't get this message popping up when my external time machine HDD is plugged in. When my drive isn't plugged in, the message occassionally shows up. (Never had this message at all in Snow Leopard.)

The following shows up in console:

21/07/2011 12:14:41.273 com.apple.backupd: Starting standard backup

21/07/2011 12:14:49.693 com.apple.backupd: Error -35 while resolving alias to backup target

21/07/2011 12:14:59.707 com.apple.backupd: Backup failed with error: 19

Me five. Getting this error message every few minutes since upgrading to Lion.

Add me to the list. Also noticed that it doesnt happen when my Time Machine External Hard Drive is connected.

I have the same problem. Only occurs when my external hard drive is disconnected. I've switched off time machine for the time being until a solution is found.

I'm gettting the same error as well, but my machine won't even recognize my external hard drive at all any more. I really would like to time machine backup, but can't. Hope there's a fix soon.

I too am getting this random pop up. Have not tried my time machine yet. Nor any other external drives. Although I do get it when I try to click on my iDisk. Happens twice then the pop ups stop and the iDisk opens.....

I had this issue as well. The error would also appear when I tried to access Versions on a TextEdit file while not connected to my Time Machine backup drive. Try resetting Time Machine by following the instructions here:

This will not delete any of your time machine data, nor will it cause you to do a complete backup once you reconnect the drive.

Now, I can access Versions while disconnected from my Time Machine drive without the error appearing. I hope this fixed the issue!

Similar to my problem but it try to look for others MacBook who used to be listed under "Shared"

If you found the sollution may be it also apply to mine. I'm just thinking that there is some link somewhere that need to be removed so it will stop looking for that particullar machine on the network.

I have the same problem with Time machine.

I had the same problem. We definitely traced it to Time Machine. The "Fix" was this: plugged in and designated different external HD as Backup volume. Then plugged in the original disc (after testing in in a different machine) and now the computer recognized it and error message stopped popping up. The Apple tech was as puzzled as I as to why this worked, but perhaps, forcing the machine to re-recognize it (or maybe even, gettting it recognized by a different machine first) somehow worked some magic. (Since posting this in another chat, several people have been successful. Good Luck!)
