Rick,

This issue is getting ridiculous. How come no one from Apple has responded to this? Can it be that difficult of a problem? We're going on our second month of this bug. I notice it always pops up when I restart my computer, and happens even more when I put a CD or DVD in the drive.

I'm so tired of it. I will let you know if I come across any solution.

Should I try to reinstall Lion? What happens if I do that? I'm thinking of just doing a regular reinstall, but don't know what would happen to my stuff.

Asatoran,

I'm well aware that Apple doesn't "respond" to the forums. I meant why haven't they responded to the problem in general. Besides the forum, several users (including myself0 have sent them this bug report through the feedback link.

So my question remains: How come no one from Apple has responded to this?

Mark

Speculation is not allowed on these forums and since Apple normally does not post any official announcements in these forums, you are likely not going to get an answer. Get more people to provide feedback. If it is that widespread, then Apple will respond in whatever way they wish. If it's just a few people that send feedback....

Again, not looking for a response from Apple in this forum. Looking for a response in a fix, such as an update. Apple has issued numerous updates in the past that have resolved people's issues that have been posted here. And you're right, more people need to send feedback to them. "A few" will not be enough.

I'm also surprised no one in the forums has come up with a solution. However, I haven't tried Michael Z's recommendation. I'll let everyone know.

Tried that, but it did NOT make the problem go away in my case. I didn't have much hope that it would, since I've never used Time Machine. :-(

The problem does not seem to be directly related to Time Machine, but to some unknown service that TM (and any number of other processes) access.

I can tell (from the Activity Monitor) that the alert is presented by the "netauthagent" process which is launched by the "launchd" process; but there is no parent process shown for "launchd", so I can't get past that.

Any news, anyone?

It seems like we are dealing with two problems: One is related to TimeMachine, while the other is related to the Media Browser.

A clear solution for the TimeMachine one is to delete the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist

But as for the media browser, nobody seems to have found a solution yet.

I'm considering doing a clean install of Lion on my mac... maybe that'll clean it up...

I'll think about doing it this weekend... =P

cheers.

My error seems to be exactly related to the Media Browser. Any application I open that has the media browser in it, such as iPhoto, Garage Band, etc...any of them, the error starts popping up about not being able to connect to the NAS share I have, but I can connect to it fine in finder.

Not sure what will fix this, but it is very annoying and keeps just popping up.

So I have had the same problem since downloading Lion. I tried deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist and that did not work. I finally got fed up enough that I took it to the apple store and though my applecare has long since expired the genius bar still helped me because it is a software issue and they support their own programs. So long story short, the guy had no idea what was causing the problem but he went in and deleted more of my preferences including more time machine related things (I don't recommend doing this yourself unless you know what you're doing because you can really mess up your computer) and had me go home and partition my external hard drive backup before redoing my time machine preferences and I no longer have the message pop up. So if you can I would take your computer into an apple store. I hope this helps someone.

Ok...not sure if this will work for anyone else or not...but I was having this same issue. I access a Windows box for work via samba using my mac. In short I disconnected from vpn without unmounting/ejecting the mounted windows drives. As soon as I did this I started getting the error messages...duh. 🙂 I started reading here about the timeMachine fix; which works for some I am sure; but was not working for me...plus I didn't have a spare external drive laying around to test this out. Finally I decided to reconnected to the vpn and mounted drives and manually ejected each of them. So far it seems to have stopped the messages. I did get one last message as I logged off of my vpn, but none since then. Good luck and I hope this will help someone.
