is there a list of codec spport for qt x in 10.7/lion?
i noticed a qt with the avid codec plays back on my laptop that i did not install the avid codec on -- and prior to lion there was no avid codec support in quicktime x (or motion). this leads me to think there are other codecs that will work.

try installing Perian
I already have Perian installed. maybe that is why the avid codec works.
but i was looking for a list of supported codecs.
it doesnt seem to exist. need to know for my production machines.
so the avid codec works on my macbook air and im pretty sure ive not installed anything to make this happen. i do have perian installed. but i tried playing avid codec on another machine with lion, and no dice.
also i found the list i was looking for, but for os x10.6 so guessing 10.7 is mostly the same.

so anyone know what i might have done to make avid codec qt's work?
edit: i have the avid codecs installed. i dont remember installing them. I also didnt think they would work with qt x
so after installing lion on a new computer at work. it turns out that the avid codecs work with the 10.7 lion version of qt x.
this is new, since they did not previously work and required qt7
Sorry to 'hijack' this thread, but does anyone would have the basics Lion Quicktime codec?
I had a tons of additional codec on Snow Leopard (from divx, to red, etc...). I just overwrite the Lion Codec, and it looks like I can't watch any Flash Video in Safari 5.1 now (and it still works fine on Chrome... weird!)...
Everything was working fine until I overwrite the files. Unfortunately I don't have any backup and didn't have time to Time Machine since the Lion upgrade.
I tried to uninstall/reinstall Flash, but it doesn't solve the problem.

After hours and hours of hard fighting and with help of someone else on another thread here, I finally got it to work again by installing the Flash 11 beta, available on Adobe Labs website...
Just saying in case it would help someone else đ

Just wanted to chime in and thank you very much for this solution. Installing Flash 11 Beta did the trick and I'm able to open my .avi files with Quicktime. The other option was to convert the files đ
