You don't need to use Launchpad - I ignore it completely as well as Mission Control. Just don't use either; if either is in your dock, remove it. Check System Preferences > Mission Control to make sure nothing is enabled.
its just that mission control is overshadowing my used to F3 Expose shortcut.
even if i go to system preferences/mission control to override the shortcut of Application Windows to F3. when i press f3, it still shows mission control.
Well, that's strange because Mission control is F9; but, since there is no more Spaces/Expose, it may just have taken over. Can you disable your F3 shortcut to test if it'll work (or, rather, not work).
hoho. i just set my F1 f2~~~ buttons as standard function keys, then configure. voila.
thanks babowa
yeah I deleted mission control and launchpad, they are useless, expose was much better
hey matt. you mean you can delete the mission control and launchpad app? but how do you reactivate expose?
Yes, Mission control lags so much for me when I have all the applicatios and windows opened. I would want to get back the normal exposè please.
I really don't like f3 shortcut. I work on IBM mainframe platform, F3 is used for EXIT on z/OS, z/VM, etc. I hope someone can guide me how to disable f3 shortcut on Lion on MBP.
i canot really test it because there is no funtion to it. but i think you just need to hold down the function key:
->fn:f3.
Maybe it works for you Rich Zhao?!
Thanks MasterKruffel.
There are 3 shortcuts by default for Mission Control, F3, fn + F3 and ^+Up arrow. What I want is removing f3 shortcut. Havn't found the solution yet.
mhh, strange. when press fn + f3 mission control does not appear. it is just f3 for me ...

I could be wrong, but I believe fn has functions on laptops, not desktops.
Hi Matt could you please email me & tell me how u deleted Launchpad. I've tried everything I can think of, it's really annoying to have this app sitting in my dock that I don't want.
You can't actually delete them, but you can remove them from the Dock by dragging them off it and releasing over the Desktop.
That's really what I meant to say. I drag it off the dock but the next time I start up the computer it's back. I've done everything I normally have done with other stuff I don't want on the dock but nothing works.
