Q: iMac 2011 - no wifi connection after sleep under Lion

I finally deleted the files, no more result.
but I noticed something. The NetBIOS parameter is still my SSID.
Meaning something hasn't been deleted ?
So I changed the SSID of my WiFi, and the 'old' SSID remains in the NETBIOS parameter.
I have never written whatsoever in this windows....

Feb 6, 2012 4:12 PMby John Galt,It is odd for the NetBIOS name to be identical to the SSID. I believe it defaults to your computer's name. It probably would not hurt to change it to your computer's name, or just erase it, but I doubt this is a causal factor.
While you are in System Preferences, go to Sharing and confirm your computer's name is still what you want it to be.

anyway, the only reliable hope for me now is to go back in 10.7.2.
How do I do that since I worked on my iMac since Feb 1st ? (new files on my hard drive)
I have I Time Machine backup before and after the fatal update ?
The idea is to just undo the patch, not to touch anything else !

In your situation I would also be motivated to revert to 10.7.2, but whatever you do please post a new topic with that specific question. I know it is possible to reinstall just the OS version you want without affecting anything else, but I have never done that so I am not the best person to ask.
I believe it will be a simple matter of entering Time Machine, navigating to the appropriate date, selecting your System folder and clicking Restore. However, I am not 100% certain, and you will want to do this correctly.
Of course you can always elect to restore your entire system as it existed prior to February, thus losing whatever work you performed since then. I have done that and it's easy.
Thank you for your patience with this, unfortunately it appears even more patience will be necessary before the problem is solved.

I opened this topic in July, shortly after buying my 27 inch iMac.
I have been a very good Apple-customer for many years now, owning almost every Apple-hardware product offered (currently: iMac, Macbook Air, iPhone, iPod, Time Capsule, Aiport Express& Apple TV), always very satisfied and happy ... till July.
First, I was sure Apple was going to fix this issue a.s.a.p ... after some weeks I really started to get annoyed.
Meanwhile I spend uncountable hours with reinstalls trying fixes and of course lots of nerves with this annoying bug.
How is it possible a company like Apple keeps ignoring something like this for such a long time (and 3 subversions of osx 10.7?)
I spent far more than 2000 bucks on a machine that annoys me every time it comes up from sleep (something like 10-15 times a day!)
How is it possible there are even MORE people having this issue with every "update" Apple provides?
Apple! Stop toying around with leather-imitate and IOS gimmicks.
Start to do things right again.
Otherwise you will loose a lot of customers.

Feb 7, 2012 2:49 AMby rednano74,After updating to 10.7.3, my wifi is fine if the Mac goes to sleep according to my setting. However, wifi is only so so when I put the Mac to sleep myself when I never had that issue.
Now, 3 days in a row, after turning my Mac on, no wifi connection when I never had such an issue with that.
The update made wifi worse for me.

Feb 7, 2012 5:50 AMby hawgdropr,I am somewhat of Mac newbie, but have embraced the platform whole hearetdly once I came on board. Two iPhones, Airport Exreme, iPad, and Mac Book Pro running OS X 10.6.8, a great OS and I am so thankful I did not upgrade to Lion! This equipment has been impeccable in; form, function and reliability. However, I acquired a 21.5" iMac upgraded processor and 1TB drive for our family for Christmas, running OS X 10.7.2, another time I am glad I did not update. This iMac has locked up and had the spinning beach ball of death more in a month than my two year old MPB ever has. I have also had the WI-FI connection issues as well as the mouse disconnecting. Fortunately, I went into Apple>System Preferences>Network and unchecked the "Ask To Join Networks" block, and this seems to have solved the WI-Fi after sleep issues for this machine, has been working for a month now anyway. The iMac locked up with my six year old gaming the other day to the point of having to hold the start button down to shutdown, then locked up upon re-boot, and finally booted on the second try, though it took almost two minutes to get to the log in screen.
I must say I am very disappointed in this computer. Apple seems to be having a Microsoftesque moment with Lion, and reliability was one of the reasons I switched from the pc platform. This has definitely took a lot of the luster off of Apple for me. Maybe they have gotten too big, like Toyota where quality suffered to accomadate production?

Feb 7, 2012 6:46 AMby aspector,My early 2008 iMac is finally reconnecting to the network after waking from sleep for the first time since downloading OS10.7, despite trying all the fixes mentioned in this discussion. Apparently, something in 10.7.3 worked for mine.
I suspect that when Apple creates a fix that will work for "everyone", mine will be back to failure.
