Lion Mail doesn't work with yahoo mail (@ymail.com)

I have a yahoo mail account but instead of yahoo.com it has a domain of ymail.com

However it does not connect via the Lion Mail app. It gives an error that the service is not available after trying to connect to imap.mail.yahoo.com for a few minutes.

This account works great on the ipad and iphone I use and this is one of the great feature on Lion is that I get ymail connection.

Is this issue on apple side or on yahoo side?

Follow these steps to do so:

1. Open your Apple Mail client.

If you were not prompted with the "Welcome to Mail" screen, select

"Mail" | "Preferences," then click the plus icon on the "Accounts" tab.

2. Enter your name, email address and password into the appropriate

fields.

3. Important: Hold the "Option" key down until "Create" turns into

"Continue" and then click the Continue button.

4. Release the "Option" key.

5. Select "POP" from the Account Type menu.

6. Fill out the "Description" as you see fit, such as "My Yahoo!

Account."

7. Enter "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the Incoming Mail Server field.

8. In the "User Name" field, enter your Yahoo! ID.

Please note: Your ID is typically your email address without the

"@yahoo.com", however, this rule does not apply to "@ymail.com" or

"@rocketmail.com" addresses. If you have either a "@ymail.com" or

"@rocketmail.com" address, be sure to enter the entire email address as

your ID.

9. Enter your password.

10. Important: Hold the "Option" key down until "Create" turns into

"Continue" and then click the "Continue" button.

11. Check the "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" option and select

"Password" for the Authentication.

12. Important: Hold the "Option" key down until "Create" turns into

"Continue" and then click the "Continue" button.

13. Enter "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" in the Outgoing Mail Server field.

14. Check "Use Authentication", and then enter your user name and

password.

15. Important: Hold the "Option" key down until "Create" turns into

"Continue" and then click the "Continue" button.

16. Check the "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" option and select

"Password" for the Authentication.

17. Press the "Create" button.

18. After Mac Mail is launched, select "Mail" |"Preferences," then

select the "Accounts" tab.

19. Select your Yahoo! Mail account.

20. Change the Port to 995.

21. Click the red icon in the top-left corner to confirm and save the

changes.

You should be able to retrieve emails from your Yahoo! Mail account now.

If you receive any authentication issues while using the above server

names, you may be able to bypass the issue by using our alternate server

names.

To use the alternate server names, use the steps listed above and

substitute the following information:

For POP server name:

pop.mail.yahoo.com

For SMTP server name:

smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Once you have completed the steps, I suggest closing Mac Mail and

opening it again before sending or receiving messages.

Sure first I clicked on "file", then "add account" and the window came up to put my email address and password. After I entered those, I clicked next and mail did the rest, now I am getting both gmail and yahoo in my mail app! I always thought it was weird how we could configure yahoo for our iphone but not for our mac but I guess Lion lets us do it. I wish I wouldn't have added a gmail account just to use mail on my mac cuz now I can go back to using my yahoo. I also love that I can use it full screen too!

Hope this helped.
