Installed Lion - all great appart from launchpad. It is full of junk applications, like installers, support apps etc and all the parallels windows apps (Why?).
Any one know how to stop LauchPad showing all the junk apps or maybe a way to hide apps?

Excellent question, but I have not been able to find a fix for that one. Seems to me that Launchpad is useless eyecandy... No folders within folders, and you can't multiple-select items to move around...arg!
You can combine the apps into virtual folders simply by dragging one to another, and another to that and so on.

If you're looking for Folders in Folders then you're not grasping the metaphor used in Launchpad. It's about buttons, not folders. In truth - as more than one reviewer has pointed out - LaunchPad is of little value to experienced users who already have a Launching system in place. It's geared for the less experienced user.

If the Apps are junk and not needed, then delete them from your Applications folder, or move them out to a folder outside of the Applications folder and they'll disappear from the LaunchPad.
Er, why not have just one folder for all the Junk?

A lot of Apps have support apps that are used by the app itself like updaters sub functions etc these are the junk apps if you delete or move them the main app stops working - Example Adobe product line / Microsoft Product line.
I would be very cautious about moving apps from the Applications Folder. Doing so will prevent them updting correctly in many cases.

I did. I created and folder called support for all Main app support apps and iCrap for all the Apple useless apps 😉

If you mean in launchpad, that dunna work here. Imbedded folders don't seem to be supported in Launchpad. This is not going to help anyone, expierenced or not. In fact, reading this post, it may really screw up many if they start moving apps around in the filesytem. ha!
Have you updated Parallels 6 today? There is an excellent update that sorts out the Windows app mess in Launchpad. Gets rid of them all, and puts on a new folder called Applications (Parallels) in Finder.
Had 6 already. Found the setting that stops win sharing apps with mac.
No, what I mean is there was an update to Parallels 6 a few days ago (build 12094) that solved the Launchpad issue.
Along these lines: Is there a way to efficiently move multiple apps in order to organize Launchpad, other than dragging icons one by one? Lion installation's best guess at folder organization was a disaster, scattering (for example) Adobe CS apps among multiple folders named TurboTax (that don't contain the TurboTax app) and making many similar messes.
It would have been better if the installation had NOT attempted to guess at folder groups, because creating new folders would be considerably easier than dragging apps out of their current folders in order to organize them among new ones.
Is there a way to organize Launchpad apps outside of Launchpad itself, or is there some utility available for making the process easier?
Dragging apps around one at a time to fix this will take hours! :-/
