Aperture Colour/ Color Shift with Lion

I am going to have to wait on Lion. The main reason I use Aperture is for the color rendition. If it has changed with Lion, I might be using Capture One or Lightoom.

I am having the same issue. Oddly - if I close Aperture and then go back to the very same image, the adjustments are back as expected, and then when I click on the image, it does the color shift/loss of adjustments again. - i.e., the adjustments are not gone forever, just not rendered properly when viewing the image or exporting it.

I've just "upgraded" to Lion...for me no general colour shift, I just found the "usual" thing that happens at every Aperture update or Raw compatibility update or system update as I mentioned here before...in fact even with Lion a new RawCamera.bundle file is installed (version 3.7.2)...and this is causing the colour shift in my images imported in Aperture....I just replaced this file with an older version and everything's back fine as before.

Most of you guys are claiming problems with jpegs, but I don't see that happening after Lion has been installed...also worth checking the system colour profile, usually after an OS upgrade the setting is the default system colour profile, I just set back my profile (generated with a Huey Pro).

Me too having colour shift problems in Aperture. It looks like it has something to do with the colourspace. With my new Nikon D5000 I use Adobe RGB (1998). And see the colourshift in every picture (jpeg).

But when taking a look at older pictures taken with a canon powershot and an different colourspace, I don't see the colour shift.

Some development on the issue, building on iPointBlank's Adobe RGB clue. (My X100 saves photos with the Adobe RGB profile.)

I too have the JPEGs color shift problem. Diving into the Aperture Library to find the master files, I then open a JPEG with color shift with Preview. In Preview's Inspector, the color profile is shown as "--" (dash) and the photo has color shift like in Aperture. So I use Preview to manual assign color profile to Adobe RGB and export it to a new file. This exported photo when imported back into Aperture, the color is now correct.

That is curious because the original master's color profile is shown as Adobe RGB not "--" in Aperture.

i've replaced RawCamera.bundle to older version 3.7.1 still the same. May i know what's the version your using in Lion? Thank you.

I'm using a very old version of RawCamera.bundle, the 3.0.1...beyond that all my Canon 30D images are magenta shifted in a almost unrecoverable way...

...but now the issue is not even that (even under Lion+RawCamera.bundle 3.0.1 no colour shift luckily)...is that after Lion "ugrade" Aperture starts occasional reprocessing of my Canon 350D images, untouched until today by any upgrade (even the newest RawCamera.bundle 3.7.2 did not modify the 350D images)...and screwing them up completely!. I've tried all the basics of manteinance, repairing this and that...no way.

So thank you Lion, thank you Apple.....I'm reverting back to SL for the moment! 🙂

When exporting my photo's the colour space stays the same. Not tried to import them back.

I'll wait and see what an update might do.

I hope my photo's aren't ruined.....I have made an VAULT backup before updating to Lion (let's keep that for now)

create a new library, import some recent photos shoot with AdobeRGB JPEGs. I check my EXIF Info it shows 'UNKNOWN' under Profile Name.

This problem is not just for Aperture. The Gimp suffers the same.

I can embed the Adobe 1998 profile to any photo edited in The Gimp, save (I tried both JPEG and PNG), then re-open it, even in The Gimp, the colors come out washed out and wrong. However, if I save the same photos with sRGB profile, the colors come out ok.

I checked exif value with exiftool,

global exif colorspace value is 0xffff = (uncalibrated)

and Adobe RGB exist on Nikon Maker Note(in my case)

This makes difference of behavior between Nikon and Canon

reverted to 10.6 temporary,

update from master and regenerete preview.

colorspace goes to 'Adobe RGB(1998)' and collect color output.

but back to 10.7 , Viewer outputs collectful color in loading by preview,

at load complete, color shift happen, again.

that's what i'm facing currently.

Recently i found out safari also having color shift problem, when i view a wallpaper of lion's login screen, it shows slight green tint but when i click to zoom 100% the color shift back to normal.

Upgraded to Lion yesterday, no problems with colours. Your wallpaper looks fine on my screen - no green cast.

Open Aperture, no colour shift - Nikon nefs all check out fine.
