Is my additional monitor useless in full screen mode?

As many others with multiple displays have reported, apps in full screen mode only make use of the primary monitor while in full screen mode. All other secondary monitors will be grey and rendered useless. Is there a work around or will there be an update to allow full advantage of having dual/multiple monitors when in full screen mode?

I add my support — this needs to be fixed. I think that when you have multiple-monitors that spaces should not be linked unless the user wants to (for example they might have two apps they always want to use at the same time).

<edit> Also, an app should be able to declare if it wants to use multiple monitors when it goes fullscreen — the default (for the deprecated API) should be that it does not need multiple monitors.
