Thanks for the post/tip Craig! 🙂
This tip solved my problem thankyou 🙂
Hold down Option key when deleting. It removed locked files from a Time Machine backup for me. After hours of trying all options found online.
This tip solved my problem.
Thanks for the post.
Regards.
This tip did not work for me, i get error -8003. Now i really need help. Gigabytes of my backups in my trash. I better submit a new topic.
After much more research and struggles, i think the trick that worked was changing the permissions from read-only to read-write on the backup files in the trash. it took hours, then i 'emptied trash' and then i still didn't see any change. but the next logout and log back in seemed to do the trick.
however, the backup disk still had 500 GB mysteriously locked or loaded with invisible files. i did a quick reformat of it, and will create new backups from here on out.
moral of this story, as the wonderful post by WZZZ above linked article says, is don't mess with anything in the backups folder. EVER.
Holding down the Option key while emptying trash worked! Thx for the tip...
