Lion kills SoundTrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro and Color

That's worrisome. I use Soundtrack Pro on a daily basis. The buggy little bugger is the most underrated app FC3 and I was very disappointed to find out there is not Cocoa rewrite.

Anyone else's experience corroborate this?

I read elsewhere that all the FCS3 apps work fine for the most part (and even FCS2).

It would be good to get more feedback either way from people who have tried the apps on Lion.

I'm running Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1 under Lion without any problems. Activity Monitor indicates Soundtrack Pro 3 is an application compiled for the Intel architecture.

So I assume you are using an older version of Soundtrack Pro.

I don't know why you would have the PowerPC-only versions installed on an intel machine? It's very weird, because they should be Universal. This may mean that you were running those apps using Rosetta under Snow Leopard, but Rosetta isn't installed with Lion. You should just re-install from the FCS3 DVD and the proper Intel versions will be placed in your Applications folder.

I just launched every FCS3 app under Lion and they all work fine, except for Cinema Tools (which unexpectedly quit.)

I'm having no problems with Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1 under Lion. Where is the crash occurring?

DVD Studio Pro keeps giving me an error when it's about to start burning the DVD.

That's too bad. What error are you getting? What version of DVD Studio Pro are you trying to run?

You didn't by chance use 'Migration Assistant" to transfer the apps from a PPC machine? T hat's the only way I can think of that you would get PPC versions on your Intell machine.

So do you get an error? If so, what is the error?

Is anything appearing in the Console when you try to launch Soundtrack Pro?

I'm not having any problems here, so without more information, it's hard to say what the problem could be or how to fix it.

We never heard back from the original poster, but we have had a couple of "me too" responses with no information or follow up.

I'm running 3.0.1 on a daily basis on OSX Lion. I am having a couple of issues with it though. Whilst playing audio and zooming in and out (using a magic mouse) the audio will stop playing. It's annoying as **** whilst I'm trying to edit on the fly.

Anyone else having the same issue?

That's funny because I had that same problem in SL for over a year until I finally re-installed all the applications and now it works. I also was using a scrollwheel trackball but I guess that wasn't the problem.

I guess that doesn't help much but I doubt it is an OS/hardware problem.

Since updating to Lion my soundtrack pro version 3.0.1 does not open. I have found a program to uninstall soundtrack pro and delete all traces of it. Do people think that this with a new installation of the program will fix this issue or is it a problem with Lion?

Could it be that you've used some tool like XSlimmer to remove unrequired platform code on your old machine, then transfered that "slimmed down" version of the applications to your new Intel Mac?

Here is another interesting issue. I have a mac book pro with SL and logic pro 9 installed and after upgrading to lion sound track pro works like a charm.

What has me really bewildered is if i upgrade first to lion and then install logic pro 9 on as i did on my imac sound track pro instantly crashes.

is there a patch or anythign to fix this as its annoying to be doing music production on my imac and have to pull out my macbook to use soundtrack.

both machines are intel based machines.
