MacBook Pro with Lion can no longer share screen

I upgraded my home MacBook Pro to Lion. Now, I can no longer share this computer's screen. I can view screens of Macs shared me from the Lion MacBook Pro, but other Macs cannot view my shared screen. If they try to connect, they never get beyond the "Connectig to [My Mac's Name]..." status window.

I checked the settings and turned sharing on and off. I've tried from other Macs on my home network and on remote Macs via the Internet. None work.

I have a MobileMe account with Back to My Mac turned on. Screen sharing is on and I have three users accounts listed.

Any suggestions?

same issue here, i've tested it with 3 different computer. iMac at work, iMac at home and a Mbp, all with Lion installed and all with Back to Mac and Remote Management turned on. At first I tried remotely share screen from work with the 2 computers at home and none of them go past the "Connecting..." window.

Now on a local network, I can't get past the "Connecting" window when I try to screen share the mbp (Wifi) from my iMac (ethernet). however i was able to screen share the iMac from the mbp.

I tried unchecking everything and rechecking everything in Sharing and also tried retyping the user/pass when i connect.

I can do file share though..weird problem...

I had the same problem with Screen Sharing over my local WIFI network with two machines that both run Lion:

  • MacBook Air connected fine to iMac.
  • iMac could not connect to MacBook Air. Sometimes it got stuck on "Connecting to...", sometimes I got the logon screen but it got stuck afterwards.

Went through the same troubleshooting steps described above, except creating fresh accounts. What seemed to help for me was resetting the PRAM/NVRAM on the MacBook Air. Which surprised me a lot because I can't see what this would have to do with Screen Sharing.

okay just tried zapping the pram at home and i still can't use the home iMac to connect to both the computer at work and the macbook at home. i was also unsuccessful trying to connect to my work computer from my macbook at home. but the macbook is able to connect to the iMac on the same network.

iMac @ work - connects only to iMac @ home

iMac @ home - connects to neither

Macbook @ home - connects only to iMac @ home

I've tried to screen share with my admin user/pw and Apple ID (I think this is a new feature), but both were unsuccessful. I really don't want to go through the process of creating new accounts, I think i'm just going to wait it out and hopefully they'll have a fix or an mini update.

UPDATE on my status....

I've reset the PRAM on all 5 of my Macs.

I've installed all updates for my three Macs that are running OS X 10.6.8.

I've created new sharing accounts on my two MacBook Pros with OS X 10.7.

The Macs with OS X 10.6.8 can share their screens with the Macs with OS X 10.7; i.e. from a Mac with 10.7, I can view the screen of a Mac with 10.6.8.

The Macs with OS X 10.7 cannot share their screens with any other Mac, even with using the new sharing accounts created after upgradeing to 10.7 and resetting the PRAM; i.e. I cannot view the screen of a Mac with 10.7 from a Mac wiht 10.7 or 10.8.6.

HELP PLEASE!

Same problem here, I have one iMac running Lion 10.7, one Mac Mini (also running Lion) and a Powerbook on 10.5.X. I was able to Screen share all my macs together once, but at one point I try to remotemy iMac to the Mac mini that was connected on my iMac and since they can't screen share each other.

I reset the PRAM and it didn't help. Even Remote management 3.5 wasn't able to connect on either of theses devices.

The Powerbook is still able to connect to the iMac or Mac Mini, but not the opposite.

The problem really is certainly related to Mac OS X Lion!

Same thing here after installing Mac OS X Lion the screen sharing option is missing in the finder for the macs at home within the same WIFI network and my mac at the office. I can connect with the connect as option to any mac without any problem, all the public and shared folders show up.

So far I have tried the following:

1.Repair permissions

2.In System Preferences I have turn off and turn on all sharing options

3.Reset PRAM

4.Restart MacBook Pro

5.Turn Off and Turn On Back to My Mac.

6.Restar in Safe Mode

7.Make visible Library Folder under my home folder and deleted all screen sharing preferences

8.Tried Guest account same result

9.Created new account same result

No matter what I have done I can not get back the screeen sharing option in the finder, any ideas on how to solve this?
