Marjean54 wrote:hcaldeira, I am using 10.7.1. I ran software update and it says there are no updates. Where did you get 10.7.2?
10.7.2 came out on October 12th. Somebody has been using a pre-release version.
They may be a developer, or may have got it, say, from a torrent site and could be corrupt.

Oct 18, 2011 9:36 AM in response to rubenlxby Anke,Might as well add my name to this list. My MacBook Pro seems happy enough but my poor iMac is suffering

Oct 19, 2011 12:31 AM in response to rubenlxby Siechotic,I have an iMac 27" mid 2011 Lion 10.7.2, I have suffered this video playback issue too (video pausing but audio still playing, iMac unresponsive)...
After trying numerous fixes and workarounds, the only thing that has worked to date is:
Turn OFF "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" in System Preferences/General
Since turning this option off, playing of videos from youtube/vimeo/BBC iPlayer/embedded video on other websites works perfectly.
edit:
This also seems to have fixed the artifacting that was occuring with icons/menubars and window borders.

Oct 19, 2011 7:51 PM in response to Siechoticby robdrums69,I am running version 10.7.2 and just noticed tonight that my IMAC 27inch - is freezing still to this day. I leave the computer, it goes into sleep mode. I come back to the computer, hit space bar and nothing happens. This was working fine a little while ago. I have a feeling a recent UPDATE may have caused this for me anyway. I noticed only after installing the NEWEST VERSION OF ITUNES. NOt sure if that's related, but I recall seeing some updates come through recently.
So, the firmware update they came up with, obviously hasn't fixed it because I checked tonight, there are no new updates for my machine. I have the newest of them all.
So, please fix this APPLE.
Thanks
Rob
ps. Tonight, I only went into Safari surfing the internet, closed safari, left computer to put my son to bed, came back, computer was asleep, had to press power button to get it to reboot and it's fine.

Oct 19, 2011 7:57 PM in response to Cantelloloby robdrums69,I agree, this is still happening in the newest version of 10.7.2 - I tested it tonight and from a clean boot up earlier today, I just opened safari and surfed the Internet. Closed Safari, put my son to bed, came back to computer it's in sleep mode. HIt space bar, nothing. I had to hold down power button and cold boot to get back into system. Something has gone wrong here with an update.
I only noticed this after updating to the newest version of ITUNES. I check for updates daily.
Thanks
Rob
P.s. Please keep in mind that I didn't run ITUNES before the freezing happened. Only Safari to surf and then closed it.

Oct 19, 2011 7:58 PM in response to robdrums69by jrey1234,I would be real curious to know is you have messages like this in the kernel.log after your restart from one of these hangs: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3366876?start=0&tstart=0

Oct 20, 2011 12:27 AM in response to jrey1234by bcqdan,Why do you people not disable sleep? I might have the same problem but I don't know. Disable sleep, turn off your computer when you don't use it if you want to save electricity and your iMac will work perfectly.

Oct 21, 2011 11:08 AM in response to robdrums69by mr.stupid, running finger over top keys on keyboard eg esc dashboard etc seems to un-freeze in lock screen for me, but thats on mid 2010 mac mini running 10.7.2, its worth a try instead of rebooting

Oct 25, 2011 12:15 PM in response to rubenlxby tomfromhavre,Is there going to be an update that fixes this? when? My 21.5-inch, Mid 2011 iMac is doing this too.

Oct 27, 2011 2:22 AM in response to rubenlxby nicknads,Well most of you guys are lucky! Sometimes my 2011 27" iMac freezes about 2 seconds after booting up!
I can't believe I payed £1500 for this crap to be happening! My iMac came with lion preinstalled and I don't even have an install disk that came with it.
APPLE ***? I'm so angry right now and don't see why I should have to downgrade to a older osx just to be able to use my iMac!
It really hurts to have to do a hard reset and hit that power button while my iMac is still running you have no idea.
So APPLE? What you gonna do about this?

Oct 27, 2011 2:50 AM in response to nicknadsby Fustbariclation,I know how you feel. Seconds after reading your message, whilst still just using Safari (with a remote session in the background), I had a full kernel panic & crash - the one where it tells you that you have to reset the power. I've a 24" iMac ( early 2009 ) NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512 MB Lion 10.7.2. So it's not just your new system, it's a general Lion problem - it started with 10.7.0, lasted through 10.7.1 and is still with me.
Yesterday I did a safe boot in the hope that resetting everything that way would help (I had about three freezes and crashes yesterday), but no joy.
These are the events in the minute or so before the crash:

Oct 27, 2011 3:03 AM in response to rubenlxby nicknads,And also wanted to say that 10.7.2 is installed and this is still happening so that ponsy little 10.7.1 upgrade that some people thought fixed the bug is rubbish! And yes I know if I get hold of apple they gonna tell me to try all these worthless techniques to fix the problem when I'm dead sure they know there is nothing we can do to fully rectify this ourselves.
My touchpad and mouse are unresponsive at times even after a freeze !
What's the boiling temperature of blood? Coz mine should be there round about now!

Oct 28, 2011 2:28 AM in response to rubenlxby shadowchen,APPLE,please fix this,my imac is mid-2011 27,and osx is 10.7.2,but still happening.

Nov 1, 2011 10:33 AM in response to rubenlxby Cantellolo,Just got my iMac back from the Apple store, where they ran the intensive hardware test and could not find a problem. The funny thing is, I installed Snow Leopard on my 2011 model (with some tweaking and borrowing install DVDs) and it was rock solid.
Sadly, I could not reproduce the freezing in the store as the geniuses were a bit in a hurry. Apparently they had also not yet heard from any problems with Lion and freezing videos/games... :-/
This really is a piece of rubbish!

Nov 1, 2011 11:22 AM in response to Cantelloloby Marjean54,The problem is not hardware. None of us had a problem until installing Lion, so the trouble lies there. Reminds me of when we had the old monitors with backlight problems. There were hundreds if not thousands of us on these discussions complaining and Apple kept telling me they knew nothing about it. That came to an end when California started a class action suit against Apple. Too bad I was in WI. For me, this hanging problem is a nusiance. I usually have several windows open, and can resolve the problem by force quiting Safari. If I don't have Safari open, then sometimes just opening the "force quite" window helps. Otherwise, I just have to sit and wait it out.
When I get the hanging problem, my curser still works. If I'm watching a video, the video still works.
