Q: OSX Lion + 2011 iMac 27'' + Video = Freeze

Seems futile posting for the difference it will make, but same problem here.

2011 iMac 27 inch, after sleep mode any GPU assisted video decoding freezes machine and has to be given a hard restart.

Poor show.

I'll add my name to the list. I'm getting freezes while playing video at completely random times. Doesn't matter if I'm coming back from sleep or not. Happens in iTunes, youtube, quicklook, etc.

It works all fine after a PRAM reset, until you put the iMac back into full sleep. Experienced a crash again after I woke up the iMac from sleep and started a Youtube video. Right now I just reset the PRAM everytime I boot up just in case and shut it down completely (instead of sleep).

I have a 27" iMac with the configuration of the 2gb AMD video card as well as 12gb of RAM and a 1TB hdd.

This issue has gotten so bad that it's to the point where the computer will freeze where only the mouse works and nothing else can be selected, resulting in a hard reset for the computer.

I am currently running Mac OS X Lion, and I also ran a test using "Tech Tool Deluxe" which is the program that used to come with AppleCare, and it constantly fails at the video card test.

I reinstalled Adobe flash as well as silverlight. I have also reset the PRAM and nothing yet, I am either going to take it in to the Genius Bar or give AppleCare a call.

For anyone who has already taken it in to the Apple Store for repairs, I would appreciate any advice possible.

same problem here, my basic system run slow and hit consistently solid, even no newaccount in System Preferences, System Preferences freezes my audio controls, youtube,same story, can not normally work on my MB Pro, I had the problem not on snow leopard, everything freezes!! PLEASE APPLE, dissolve!

MBP upgraded to Lion and having freezes with Youtube/Safari/Flash/Itunes/Systempreferences/Garagaband = so what everything..

Why is Apple silent on the biggest bug ever to ship in an OS release? Thousands of people with new iMacs and MacBooks are having their machines lock up and freeze. I've been an IT tech for 20 years and I can verify that I also have this problem. Apple is strangely silent and not addressing users complaints. We need a patch ASAP. Ok. I go back on SL for the moment. I won't wait without any information from Apple. When I'm sure the problem is solve I might reinstall Lion.

agreed... i spent $2200 on this computer, and OSX LION is LAME.

APPLE GET WITH IT!!! who cares about your launchpad if its screwing up my productivity. If they stay silent on this for another day im returning this piece of crap.

I've written about it on my blog, and I've been trying to get some coverage elsewhere, but for now, this isn't thought to be very newsworthy.

you'd think with all the money they're making they'd at least test all of these things... i mean, i would have figured out all these bugs in ONE DAY.

Can anymone post the response of the apple care, what do they advise ?
