Jul 30, 2011 7:17 PM in response to rubenlxby filoleg94,Some people here have already mentioned it: the temporary solution is to turn going into sleep mode off. It doesn't seem like solid permanent solution, but at least you don't have to reboot your computer every time you watch video after sleeping mode

Jul 30, 2011 7:22 PM in response to rubenlxby jerrygg,Count me in. Brand-new 21.5 + Lion + sleep + video = total freeze. Support/Genius has walked me through several of the fixes mentioned here but no luck, all the while cautiously avoiding any statement that might imply there is an issue on their end.

Jul 31, 2011 3:00 AM in response to rubenlxby AndyWarr,I posted earlier in this thread with the same problem. I have done a bit of sleep testing it seems to happen if there is a full screen app running when sleeping and therefore when waking. It happens consistently if I
force sleep with a full screen app running but if only one desktop no full screen apps then no problems on wake.
Does anyone else find the same?
iMac 2011 21.5 inch 2.7GHz i5
If this is the case and not just chance then as a work around exit full screen apps and possibly close down other desktops before sleep. A pain but this should resolve things until the inevitable update fix.
Come on Apple. I just made the jump from PC don't let me land in less fragrant fields than I had hoped.

Jul 31, 2011 3:00 AM in response to declanfromderryby Iain Allan1,I have the same problem with the desktop freezing after sleep with a 2010 27" iMac after upgrading to Lion.
If you have "Remote Login" enabled in the Sharing Preference pane you can ssh from another computer and do
a proper shutdown or reboot from the command line.

Jul 31, 2011 3:07 AM in response to Iain Allan1by kirkmc,This has happened to me without full-screen apps.
I've been working with an Apple engineer for the past week, and he had me try everything suggested in this very long therad. He also asked me to do a clean install on a different disk, which I did yesterday. I was unable to reproduce the problem, despite running lots of videos, sleeping often, etc. This doesn't mean it won't happen, but I was able to easily reproduce it on my main boot partition.
There are certainly many variables - the clean install had no third-party sofware installed. But given the number of people posting here, I doubt that there's any third-party software responsible. (Also, the Apple engineer has seen my crash logs, and hasn't suggested that any specific software could be responsible.) So I'm a bit flummoxed by this latest development...
I'm posting information and comments on my blog:

Jul 31, 2011 3:08 AM in response to sycrenby kirkmc,Yes, I installed it, and, no, it didn't resolve the problem. In fact, I installed it before Lion, and things worked fine under Snow.
