Aug 6, 2011 9:21 AM in response to rubenlxby OverHaze,Ok we are off to a good start 10.7.2 fixes the problem with itunes killing OpenGL performance.

Aug 6, 2011 9:58 AM in response to OverHazeby Studio K,For the 4 days after installing 10.7.2, I did not experience another freeze of the kind most describe here (frozen display, moving mouse cursor).
BUT, I did run into trouble with JDownloader, which requires Java. While downloading links, my display switched off, and I couldn't get it to come back. HARD RESET! Ran Jdownloader again, everything in the display vanished leaving only an empty gray-colored desktop. Mouse and keyboard unresponsive. Not even a cursur to move.
Is anyone else running 10.7.2 AND Jdownloader?

Aug 6, 2011 7:58 PM in response to rubenlxby Keifer.Street,I just purchased my first iMac less than a week ago. Like all other previous posters, I too am experiencing video crashing issues when watching videos. I have the same symptoms - everything freezes except the mouse. The only way to recover is to power down and restart this machine. This is a major bug in the OS; very uncharacteristic of Apple.
Please fix this Apple (and soon).

Aug 6, 2011 10:07 PM in response to rubenlxby hmoubarek,I am having the same problem too with 27' iMac after installing Lion. It is our first Mac and we are very dissapointed, especially that the main reason we bought this iMac is for video playback/editing.
I hope Apple will respond soon with a fix and an apology and/or credit to affected consumers, otherwise they're not much different that Microsoft.

Aug 6, 2011 11:42 PM in response to rubenlxby ScubaJenkins,Same problem here. New 27" 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac freezing upon video playback after waking from sleep mode. Definitely a bug with Lion. Apple needs to fix this soon, very frustrating!

Aug 7, 2011 1:18 AM in response to rubenlxby Nefastos,Add me to the list: running Lion on a Mid-2011 21" i5 iMac. Everything works fine and stable if I don't put the machine to sleep. After a sleep cycle all types of video freezes the OS with only the mouse cursor remaining active.
This doesn't happen each and every time I play video after a sleep cycle, but I'd say it happens about 75 % of the time. It NEVER happens if the machine hasn't been sleeping since last reboot.
