Aug 9, 2011 6:43 AM in response to rubenlxby tewksy,I am having the same problem with my Mid 2010 iMac 2.93Ghz model and it's rather annoying. Hope they bring out an update to rectify the problem otherwise I think I will be going back to 10.6. Seems so unstable at the moment, constantly crashing, and thats after a fresh install since it seemed to be slow when I upgraded it.

Aug 9, 2011 8:08 AM in response to rubenlxby jamesfromwokingham,I'm another new IMac(May 2011) user with a computer that freezes. I'm using Lion OS X. System is a 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 27" IMac with 8Gb RAM.
Seems to occur after the IMac has been in sleep mode then a video is watched either in iTunes, Youtube or DVD. I have set up a new user account to test and the same thing happens - Complete freeze requiring powerdown.
Pity, in that this is my first Apple having been a PC man all my life and thought all the issues I faced with Windows were now behind me.
Apple support whilst friendly seem unaware off any problem and have asked me to report further crashes having cleared my cache and set up a a new user account to se if it a system problem. They also checked the Lion installation(All OK).
Next step seems a complete system reinstall which seems excessive if it is happening to so many New Imac owners?
I have tried different browsers (Safari and Chrome) and the same thing happens after the computer has been in sleep mode - Complete freeze if a video is played
disappointing

Aug 9, 2011 10:13 AM in response to rubenlxby JohSm,Same problewm on my brand new iMac 21.5" i5 - 16GB / 6770M.
(It was delivered with OSX Lion 10.7)
I have a problem, that when i do Video Playback some times there is not any video shown on the screen and the iMac seems to hang! Some times the mouse pointer is possible to move, but i can't click any thing, the video sound is playing in the background...
The only way to get control again is to press the powerbutton until it powers off, then restart!
After restarting the Mac it is no problems with video playback...
I guess it's only occuring after the iMac has been in sleep mode and when you try to playback video!
(I use Apples iTunes for the playback.)
This is a brand new iMac with SW out of the box!
Regards
Johan

Aug 9, 2011 10:50 AM in response to rubenlxby dh_nj,After the similar problem since updating my mid 2011 imac, 2.7 GHz, corei5, 4 gb ram to lion, I updated adobe flash player to 10.3.183.5 and have been unable to replicate the problem of freezing when playing video after hibernation. I have simultanious videos playing in DVD player, quicktime, itunes, you tube in:, safari, chrome and firefox, as well as ustream in safari, as well as writing and sending this post. ical, mail and angry birds are aldso open. Windows, try that!
It may too soon to call it a fix, and I know some of you have tried this and it did not work. But, for me, so far so good.

Aug 9, 2011 11:00 AM in response to ecphotographieby MyApple8MyPC,Same exact problems here. Apple, you should be ashamed of yourself for releasing 10.7 when it is so buggy. 10.6 was working great, but 10.7 feels more like windows ME :( Constant freezing up. Thank god the iPad isn't effected.

Aug 9, 2011 11:04 AM in response to rubenlxby LeighM2001,Same problem here too, mac just freezes after playing a video. Getting really annoying and probably not that good for the mac with all this turning off and on.

Aug 9, 2011 11:17 AM in response to rubenlxby danjpearson,Wow, this thread is proving pretty popular. Thought I'd share some positive news with you all.
Quick recap on my situation: 2011 21.5" iMac, purchased with Snow Leopard, upgraded to Lion, since installing Lion it freezes on any video playback following a sleep/wake cycle. Disabled sleep/wake for the time being.
I submitted a bug report on the issue, posted feedback to Apple and even resorted to a cheeky e-mail to Mr Jobs on the assumption one of his minions might pick it up.
Here comes the good news. I also filed a complaint with the App Store regarding Lion. As I see it, I paid for a defective product that has resulted in a reduction in functionality to what I enjoyed previously. I stated, "in the absence of any official statement of intent by Apple to deliver a fix for this issue, I wish to request a full refund of the purchase price for Lion as it does not function as expected." Worth a try, right?
And you know what? It was. A very kind App Store Customer Support staffer e-mailed me today to confirm I will receive a full refund for Lion.
I find it odd that they would so easily agree to the refund, but there we are. I also find it strange that Apple would rather give me the money back than acknowledge the issue officially and let me know a fix is coming.
But I can't complain with the customer service, so I'm happy.

Aug 9, 2011 11:41 AM in response to rubenlxby JohSm,I don't use flash and I didn't upgrade my iMac it was delivered to me 2 weeks ago with 10.7 Lion !
AND IT FREEZES WITH VIDEO PLAYBACK IN ITUNES (Mostly when it's been in sleep/hibernation mode)
Hey it's a brand new product, and it's my first Mac! It's really getting a bad experience..
Maybe I should consider returning it if it dosen't get fixed soon!Any reason to think it's a hardware problem? Should i return the iMac and ask for a new?
This is my version of Video chipset in my iMac i5
AMD Radeon HD 6770M:

Johan
