Aug 9, 2011 11:49 AM in response to rubenlxby SirShorty,Please everybody raise a case with Applecare for this issue.
I spoke to them earlier and they say not enough people have reported this issue for it to be a known issue that the AppleCare chaps can deal with.
They've been through all of the troubleshooting with me, however my Mac (typical) hasn't frozen today - so the logs that I've sent them today aren't that useful!
If they ask if you've re-installed just tell them that you already have installed a fresh copy of OSX Lion, Not installed any 3rd Party Applications (such as Flash) and that it is crashing still.
Also worth mentioning that it didn't happen in Snow Leopard.
The collective comments in here show that if you are asked to re-install, that it won't make any difference.
I've raised a second call with AppleCare and spoke with a Senior tech support guy today who was actually very helpful, but fortunately (or rather unfortunately) my Mac hasn't frozen today!

Aug 9, 2011 12:03 PM in response to JohSmby dh_nj,Very frustrating. It seems that this is a software issue because my new imac was purchased with snow leopard 1 month before lion was released and it worked beautifully. not a single issue, problem or complaint at all. only when I upgraded to lion did I begin to have the "freezing" problem. Updating adobe flash player has so far, tentatively, cautiously optimistically, resolved this issue.
While i am not a "Mac genius", this is my 4th mac and I love the OS and hardware.
Good luck, I hope Apple releases an update soon.

Aug 9, 2011 2:35 PM in response to rubenlxby SL62,Good(ish) news
Not sure if someone has already posted this, but frankly this thread is too long to browse through to check.
Anyway I filed this bug with the developer bug reporter and have just received a reply - apparently the bug is a known issue and apple engineers are working on the problem. I guess there's not much we can do but wait for the update..

Aug 9, 2011 2:37 PM in response to rubenlxby kjkurien,Same Problem here. Here are the steps to reproduce
* Unbox a new IMAC. 27"
* Installed Flash for Safari
* Go to youtube.com
There is mouse response, however everything else is frozen. Only way out was to perform a hard reset.
I hit this problem on the 2nd day of usage.
I just dumped my windows PC to avoid these crashes. Seems like the grass is not greener here at all.
Very Very Disappointed.

Aug 9, 2011 3:07 PM in response to rubenlxby ryan andreas,Anyone who is having this issue should try this:
Look at your Adobe Flash Player pref pane in system preferences (if you have one)
Make sure you have the most updated plug-in version.
Delete all browsing data, settings, and local storage.
No guarantees, but updating the flash PLUG-IN and wiping those files seems to have done the trick for me, for now.

Aug 9, 2011 3:12 PM in response to ryan andreasby Speedy974,I am glad that it worked for you but this is not only Flash related. I have the same exact issue when playing a video in Quicktime after waking the iMac up.
What I think we should all do though is to report this to Apple:
- Contact Apple care: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
- Report a bug: bugreport.apple.com (register if you do not have a login)
- Send feedback to apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/imac.html

Aug 9, 2011 3:33 PM in response to rubenlxby nFocus Pictures,Ok Guys,
This has totally worked for me. Absoulutely no issues after I did this. Been working for a couple of weeks with no freezing. Download the Beta flash from Adobe. Yes I realize many people have done this, but the additional step is the true key.
"Reset"!!!!! your Safari... You can do this by opening safari, clicking on it on the top left, clicking reset. Then close it, restart your mac and walla.... I edit video for a living. So trust me when I say I work with video all the time. Like I said, no issues after I did this.
Best Of Luck.

Aug 9, 2011 3:36 PM in response to rubenlxby rolleur,I was having the same problem with freezing on my 27" 2011 iMac after waking from sleep and playing videos with Flash or Quicktime. I updated my flash to 10.3.183.5 and I have been unable to reproduce the problem for the last 3 hours (fingers crossed). Oddly, I am unable to reproduce the problem with Quicktime videos as well - even though I am not sure how the Flash plugin could have caused that issue. Hopefully, others will have similar success???

Aug 9, 2011 5:43 PM in response to rubenlxby Sachit.R1,Called Apple Care just for the fun of it. The person I spoke to went through the general trouble shooting steps nothing really new. I asked him how many people called in about the issue he said that it was very few thus he said the issue did not seem that common. At the end of it, he wanted me to take my mac to the apple store. However i personally don't like the apple store near me and I need my computer for work.
Before I called:
My computer just came out of sleep and I started a youtube video. When the loading indicator suddenly froze and the computer was not responding as readily I quickly killed chrome. The computer was still lagging so I decided to restart the computer before checking the logs. As it began to shutdown it had a kernel panic
Here is the kernel panic if anyone is curious:

Aug 9, 2011 6:46 PM in response to rubenlxby HausOfBryanB,I have had the exact same problem. There is no way to force quit. I did call Apple Care serviral times in the past two days. They said that there was a number of people that were experiencing this problem. I'm guessing that Apple will release a software update.

Aug 9, 2011 7:26 PM in response to rubenlxby jeremyfromcallahan,I bought my 2011 iMac about a week ago and I've had this happen at least 5 times already. I'm sure it will be handled in the next update. Still ***** though!
