Aug 11, 2011 9:20 AM in response to rubenlxby Blakey101,I managed to cure the issue by turning the computer Sleep setting in Energy Saver to "Never" since then I haven't had one freeze, and have been able to play all different types of Videos on the net including Youtube.
It's been a week since i decided to turn sleep off and so far i haven't had any problems whatsoever.
If this was really annoying you, like it was with me then i highly recommend turning sleep off as a temporary solution until Apple release an update.

Aug 11, 2011 11:33 AM in response to rubenlxby iCursor, have you a same problem with Flash 11 beta for Lion?
-
Aug 11, 2011 11:43 AM in response to iCursorby mattsileo,Flash 11 Beta does not fix the problem. This is NOT a Flash problem! It is a Lion problem.

Aug 11, 2011 11:59 AM in response to mattsileoby andrewfromleatherhead,Hi
I have the same problem. After I wake my imac, if I try and run a flash video, it freezes. This both in Safari and Firefox.

Aug 11, 2011 12:02 PM in response to rubenlxby HausOfBryanB,ATTENTION: I have put my iMac in a no sleep state for the past few hours. Since I have disabled the sleeping mode I have NOT had any problems with viewing videos of any type on my iMac. This seems to have done the trick for now, in till Apple releases a software update of some type.

Aug 11, 2011 12:06 PM in response to HausOfBryanBby Steve Self,YES. NO SLEEP IS GOOD WORKAROUND.
I have been working for 3 days now. Edit video upload, test, etc. No freezes. Lion + iMac i7.
Much easier to do this than downgrade to SL.

Aug 11, 2011 12:13 PM in response to Steve Selfby Chicago Joe,All, I have a 2011 27" iMac. After upgrading to Lion, I have been having the same problems (mostly with playing video in iTunes, although it crashed once with Safari). What typically happens with iTunes is that a movie will start playing, there is sound, but the screen is black. The mouse icon can move, but it will not do anything. Have to do a hard restart.
I've been on the phone with Apple Support for a week, and it has been with Apple doing hardware stress tests (it actually had a kernel panic when it was at Apple). They confirmed that they hardware is fine, and it's definitely a Lion issue. I was told the engineers know about the issue and are supposedly creating a fix. Whether or not they actually are looking into this is another thing.
So much for paying a premium for an "uncrashable" computer! Macs aren't supposed to crash, Apple!

Aug 11, 2011 12:22 PM in response to rubenlxby MrStock,No sleep is good workaround, but I've still got some artifacs watching a lot of 3d tutorial with quicktime.

Aug 11, 2011 12:54 PM in response to rubenlxby mvaug10087,talked to applecare, told me to instal current verison of flash rather than beta version, obviously didn't help!! They admitted that there may be a problem but had no information. i really think that they should be aware of huge threads like this. Anyway, switched sleep to 'never' and I turn the iMac of at night. Seems to have solved the problem for me and not a big deal really. I have never had the 'artfacts' that have been mentioned here and no problems in Itunes or any other video other than embedded videos in websites, so there may be more than one problem here. over and out for now

Aug 11, 2011 4:04 PM in response to rubenlxby Mike BGH,First time Mac owner chiming in with the same issue. Baseline 2011 iMac 27-inch with 2.7GHz i5 and 4GB of RAM. Freezes at least twice per day on Lion. Insanely frustrating.
Love the OS since I switched, but the freezing is ridiculous.

Aug 11, 2011 4:39 PM in response to rubenlxby Yousifz,I had the same issue , Install fresh copy of Lion OS X and the problem gone.

Aug 11, 2011 5:47 PM in response to rubenlxby rogerfromnorwalk,Yes, I am having exactly the same issue. Upgraded a new 27" imac from Snow Leopard to Lion (10.7) and have had these freezes every few days. The mouse (or, in my case, trackpad) cursor works, but that's it. Nothing is clickable and the keyboard is dead. Only way out is to power down. Happens intermittently when in Safari. VERY irritating.
