Q: OSX Lion + 2011 iMac 27'' + Video = Freeze

I am also a 2011 27" iMac user experiencing the freeze during flash playback.

Has anyone seen officail word from Apple on what the issue is?

I am in the same boat. Just adding my name to the growing list...

I have downloaded 10.7.2 11C37 and i have no freeze on my imac i7 3.4. I think the problem is gone with the next update on Lion

Same issues, (imac 21.5 i5 4Gb).

Pretty annoying.

I am wondering if we need to worry about data loss/corruption when we are rebooting? I have an external hard drive that is mounted during the freezes too...

Ditto with my very new 21.5 i5 GB imac. Frustrating there is no fix yet...

Did anyone try the partial workaround I suggested in page 63? I've yet to experience a single freeze watching videos (only flash videos, mind you) since I disabled Hardware accelerations.

I haven't read any comment about this.

I just uninstalled Flash from my iMac and i have not had any problems since , i know its not great but its better than having to hard reset the iMac which is not good at all....

Now i did a factory reset, installed OSX Lion over the Network on My new iMac 21.5" i5..

(As the NeXT step to go, from Apple support)

After the installation!

I was able to play .mp4 h264 videos in Quicktime. No problems after suspend! Did try it a couple of times!

Then installed iworks and ilife, still ok to play in Quicktime after suspend..

Then restored some music and videos to iTunes, started iTunes played a video worked fine!

Did set the computer to suspend/sleep mode, started it and did try to play a video in Quicktime...

Problem is back!

Now when i play a video in Quicktime or iTunes after suspend/sleep mode the iMac freeze.

And yes i don't have any Flash components installed.

Apple support still dosn't confirm that this is aknown problem, so i think i'll ask for a replacement iMac after spending 5 hours preforming various tests and reinstalling (3Hour for online reinstall download)

I am sure apple is well aware this is a problem as its all over the Internet! If you call apple care and can well believe they will say they are not aware this is an issue!

I would have thought that 65 pages on the topic may have rung at least one bell at Apple...? I have resisted the Apple until fairly recently, and I am starting to wonder whether I should have made the switch from PC to Mac.

Hang in there! Macs are amazing! and i use both!! This is just a set back that can happen when anything new gets released , it will get sorted , that i am 100% sure of

Ok, just this once...but I'm not happy...well only with this problem. I'll hang in there for sure...

I just got an email from AppStore Support, saying that I'm getting a refund of the full price. Just emailed them few days before... go on and do this!
