Sony PRS-300 ereader not working with Lion

Hello

I updated to OS Lion on 20 July and now find that my ereader (Sony PRS-300) is not recognised by my Mac when I plug in the USB.

It worked perfectly before!

Am unable to locate any help on the Sony site and the problem only occirred after installing Lion.

Anyone have any ideas to solve it?

Yours in hope

Same issue with a PRS-500. I had to back a support center "supervisor" into a corner and he admitted that their software is not compatible with Lion. Apparently, their software/device/Sony probably doesn't really know, is based on 32 bit architecture and Lion runs 64 bit without whatever crutch used to be their for the slow-reading group like Sony. The advice from Sony was to downgrade the OS to Snow Leopard; my course--to restore operability after resetting the device (not knowing it was a deliberate defect from Sony)--was to keep one of the machines in the house on Snow Leopard, install the software and use that machine to sync the reader. Whether Sony is even competent to address the issue is an open question.

Hi

I have the same problem with my PRS-350, Error where the word reader should be in the Sony Library.

There is a solution or a way to get Lion System to read Your Sony Reader its this!

Switch off Your Mac Then Hold down the number 2 and number 3 keys together, switch Mac on still holding these keys down till you get the Log on screen, Release the Keys and log in, This puts your Lion System into 32bit instead of the 64,

Plug your Reader in and you will be able to access as normal, When you have finished and unplugged your reader, Switch off your Mac and back on again Not holding any key down and you will be back to 64bit, Tedious But It does Work.

Hi, got a pocketbook with the same issue...my solution is not perfect, but perhaps it also works for the Sony ( although I owned 1 that never ever worked with leopard as well)...I copied the book on a usb stick and was ably to copy the file into the ereader...as I said, not perfect...and not sure if it can work with your sony. Good luck!😉
