Q: Lion - Horrible MacBook Pro Battery Life

After upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro battery life has been severly affected. After 1.5 hours of light web browsing, my battery has decreased to 40% from 100% after charging all night.

Notes: Spotlight completed indexing the hard drive over night, and the laptop remained plugged in charging. The fans seem to be running normally, not at a higher rate. The backlight is at 50% brightness.

Thoughts?

I got something intreresting while re-installing snowleopard 2 days back.

My fans started running contionously at 6000+ rpm andbattery was showing 3 hours left with 98% charge. It is the first timethis happened in my mid 2010 white macbook with 10.6.3. The only thing I did different this time was I used disk utility from Lion recovery module instead of SL installation DVD.

Soon after that I erased the entire disk andinstalled SL twice in the conventional way. But no change. I tried toreset SMC and PRAM also. But it became okay during 3rd installation andsubsequent SMC reset. Battrey life back to 8+ hours and fan at1990-2015 rpm.

Btw, I was a Lion user way back in August for 2 days.Got frustrated with battrey life and came back to SL. Luckily I triedpirated copy of Lion before actual purchase.

I am not sure whether my exprience has something todo with Lion or it just happened becasue of some SMC issue. But I amhappy if this can hint apple engineers for some clue.

Deserve what you get, really if you are going to pirate software. Apple Engineers don't read these posts as a rule, and would certainly not take advice from someone who didn't even PAY for their software like the rest of us.

I think you forgot to read the terms of use, both on Lion and on this Forum. You broke the law. If your computer blew up you would be screaming that it's apple's fault. Your stupid comments will be removed. Dishonesty has a way to come back and bite you, as with your battery life.

I think in 2011 you have a plethora of choices for shareware, freeware and open source good solutions if you can't or don't want to buy a software.

The issue with the battery drain has nothing to do with pirated versions of Lion.

In your case I hope it does, thief. You have no choice when it comes to system software but to buy it and licence it.

Then you and the Apple engineer are idiots. It is not shareware, and you too are a thief. Hopefully your illegal copy will do untold damage to your computer. Believe in Khama?

No more from me. Others will tell you what an idiot and lawbreaker you are as well.

    Bad Luck To You

In my case what? I bought Lion on the App store.

And I only run software with a legal license I've purchased. If I can't afford something, I simply don't buy it or try to find other solutions (educational licensing, shareware etc.)

Take it easy and think twice prior accusing someone of something.

Sorry Rayced, I was meaning to reply to this idiot ans arunms, but they are stupider than I thought. Made me confused. Lion is simply a paid OSX available only from Apple for a fee and can only be used under the terms of use that are described in the Download pages. Illegal versions from torrents, etc. are not only illegal but can cause irrepairable damage to your system and hardware, including possible severe BATTERY DRAIN!!

    My apologies again to you

when I said pirated it is not from torrent or any other site, but a borrowed copy of Lion DVD my friend purchased from appstore. But obvioulsy I have not purchased it.

Now the question here is battery drain or software piracy ?
