Now the question here is battery drain or software piracy ?
Change your story now. The question here is battery drain, until you and the other poster started talking about pirating Lion. And you cannot install your friend's copy on YOUR computer. You have admitted to it, so you installed illegal software against Apple's terms and as such, I prefer to have no more association with you ar the other fool.
Good Luck

As far as I know you can't purchase Lion DVDs from the app store.

After upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro battery life has been severly affected. After 1.5 hours of light web browsing, my battery has decreased to 40% from 100% after charging all night.
Notes: Spotlight completed indexing the hard drive over night, and the laptop remained plugged in charging. The fans seem to be running normally, not at a higher rate. The backlight is at 50% brightness.
Thoughts?

Nov 21, 2011 11:34 AM in response to DrChandraby SParker1tx,Have there been any solutions to this? Is everyone still attributing the terrible battery life to Lion? I get 2:30 hours from a full charge doing light browsing (No Flash, No AirPlay, 80% Brightness, Fans never run above 3,000 RPM, CPU Never more than 8% Usage according to Activity Monitor) listening to itunes, and e-mail. I have a 2.4GHz 15" with 256GB SSD, why is my battery life so terrible and nowhere near the Up To 7 Hours? This is starting to get really frustrating I can't even get through a part of my workday...

Nov 21, 2011 12:58 PM in response to Michael Empricby tcandaman,I'm not sure what happened in the past two days, but my battery life has significantly improved to 5:30 hours compared to 2-3 since I bought this 2011 15 inch in September. My CPU is hovering around 40 degrees even with watching youtube videos and such which I have never seen before. I haven't heard the fan at all and everything is running very smooth. I'm running Mail, Safari, Spotify and Skype.

Nov 22, 2011 5:14 AM in response to PhangirloftheOperaby andyw720,Hi All,
I have a two week old MPB 15" 2.2 with SSD. Was getting HORRIBLE battery life like many here - approx 1.5 hours from full charge. Apart from lion software - which still seems to be causing some issues compared with Snow Leopard, my solution was as follows:
1. Install GFXCardStatus as many have mentioned and ensure that in preferences check the power source-based switching box and force integrated graphics on battery power (http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus)
2. Reset SMC by following steps outlined in forum (thanks PhangirloftheOpera). With power cord connected power down laptop, then hold down SHIFT CTRL OPTION along with power button for around 10 seconds. Not sure on all models but the light indicator on my power cable flashed after around 5 seconds.
After following these steps battery life has gone from 1.5 hours to around 7. Still not good enough that this forum as 1388 replies yet no fix yet via Lion update.
Good luck all

Nov 22, 2011 5:22 AM in response to SParker1txby AlwaysTheGood,This is a 93 page (and counting) thread, so in case you've not seen it: install gfxCardStatus and keep the discrete GPU from kicking in. My late 2011 2.2gHz 15" MBP w/ 8gb and Crucial M4 256gb SSD, brightness at 40% easily makes 7+ hours browsing the web. I have Skype and email up in the background. I do have Flash disabled (Safari->Preferences->Disable Plugins). Before gfxCardStatus, Skype was enabling the discrete GPU and I was getting the horrible battery some people are reporting.

Nov 22, 2011 10:43 AM in response to Michael Empricby ajl917,I went to the Genius Bar yesterday and I was surprised to see that he really had no solution at all. Told him my issue and that I believed it was all software related, he ran diagnostics and said my battery was fine, like I expected. I told him I had already reset the SMC, he did that again, and then suggested calibrating my battery or doing a clean restore. Overall, not much help from the Genius Bar.

Nov 22, 2011 10:52 AM in response to Michael Empricby thisisvick,mid 2010 Macbook Pro 13' 2.4 core2duo w/ 8gb RAM
93 pages.. pretty much explains the state of LION.... I just wanted to report what I have done and just wanted to compare results with you guys. I have tried a clean install of LION / updates .. no migration assistant and installed appliations from scratch. I did the SMC reset (yes wait for the status light on the charger to change colors or flicker off to know you did it right ) and PRAM reset (x3 times in a row). This seemed to improve the battery by 30 min, temperatures are still warm compared to SL.
One of the benefits I have noticed doing a clean install of LION is applications are way snappier.... one bounce for Safari and the memory leak is not soo bad..
What i really wanted to share with you guys is I have forced boot LION into 32 bit by shutting down system and right after pressing power i hold down '3'' and '2'' keys until log in... I check under System Preferences>>About This Mac>>More Info>>System Report>>Go Down to Software>> :: 64-bit Kernel and Extensions: No -- to ensure I was indeed booted in 32 bit mode. In addition I have forced switch Safari to run in 32bit. I am aware that a 32bit kernel uses only 4gb ram but i read somewhere that Mac OSX has implemented some "Physical Address Extension" that allows the OSX to utilize more ram through some trick. In addition I have noticed that applications still say they are running 64-bit soo i am curious what the deal is on that?
Results: So far it seems the battery has improved... i finally see more then 5 hours on the batttery and i am at 83% battery / 84% health (would easily get 6+ hours with SL) .... before this 32-bit boot tweak - i would get 4:30 hrs on full charge predicted and 4:30 on an actually tested run down.... Im hoping to be free enough to test out how the battery runs down on 32 bit... Currently I am not noticing any performance decline then again its been less then 24 hours since i did the 32bit tweak. I can say there is hardly any difference when running Safari on 32bit and the smooth pinch zoom is as sexy as ever...
I wanted to know if anyone else has tried this? And if you could post your results and your experiences...
Good Luck to everyone out there... =)
Edit: typed 32bit twice.. i meant gb

Nov 22, 2011 11:53 AM in response to Michael Empricby milwaukee_bronze,Hi All,
I completed my test, the results speak for themselves: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvAz9YtFlo-8dHBIMXJuSC1oWUZsMGFWRk9 ENVllcVE
Interesting to note that a clean install of SL actually performed worse than Lion. Under load, everything falls apart.
Next Step: Clean install Lion and observe performance with fresh loaded apps.
Funny, I seem to recall reading that migrating from one version of OS X to another was a breeze compared to Windows.... We're certainly not feeling the love right now Apple! 93 pages, 143k views and still no solution!
