"No more updates" Fantastic!

For Snow Leopard. Any future technology will be Lion and upwards, but best of luck with an already out of date system. As I said, each to their own.

Oh, and Front Row obviously has no place in the future or it would be still part of Lion.

Bye

What popular Mac software doesnt run on SL?

About your Front Row comment - this thread would not exist if there was not a demand for Front Row.

You keep talking about the future but most productive people require products that work today, not in the unknown future.

I didn't want this discussion to turn into an argument but its a real shame that you buy into the upgrade path (especially now without Steve Jobs) and I hope you reconsider the value of SL, its superior compatibility and the value of Front Row.

Just look at what happened to Windows. They tried to upgrade everyone from XP to Vista but it was a huge failure and XP was the OS of choice for many years after the failed Vista launch. I feel the same thing is happening now with Mac OSs. Just look at all the forums where people are trying to find a way to uninstall Lion.

But you are right about one thing, to each their own.

To mulligan's point, Lion definity took a step forward in many ways. But to Ocean's point, Lion definitely took a few steps back by removing some critical functionality. While the actual product Front Row is obviously not the future since it was not included in Lion, does anyone think Apple is going to get away from a usable 10-foot media interface?

I remember somewhat recently the great Mr. Jobs saying that Apple was going to revolutionize whole home entertainment. Can't do that without having a display you can read from over 3 feet away.

Interesting you say that.

I love these articles, apparently Steve Jobs' last project.

Hey Guys,

I know Apple dropped Front Row app from Lion, and it ***** to live without it.

Now, I found Squire and works even better than Front Row.

It's not at its prime yet, but the Alpha version finds your movies, and tv shows across your network, and then somehow it link back once you're out of your network.

Squire mapped my movies and tv shows, both from my NAS and MacBook Pro.

And today, at the office, my MacBook Pro is able to playback movies that are stored at home.

It's amazing!

Can't wait for the developers to have Squire move on to Beta, and eventually Official Release.

Thank you Sylion guys!

I don't have time Tom, I run 2 web/graphic design business', average working day is 12-13 hours, then usually a wind down with some films or running around a field shooting people (PS3). Although last few days have been trying to get rid of this stupid Codec-M (NEVER TOUCH THIS GUYS, 'TIS EVIL).

Back on subject, a quick Google will find that you can add FrontRow to Lion, but I like the fact the remote doesn't conflict now (between A-TV and iMac).

Oh well, I guess I will just get one of those. Still, it was nice that it was simple and free. I wish that they would offer some of these apps in the mac app store. Especially wish that Apple made optional free or even paid versions of the unincluded iphone apps (i.e. stocks, weather, calculator...)

Sorry to post to an old thread but I came here from a web search lloking for answers to the Front Row problem.

It's true it isn't there in Lion but there are alternatives. A great one I found is Plex Media Center and I wrote a blog post on installing it.

Hopefully this will help others searching for the same:
