Of course your only problem now is that there will be no more updates for Snow Leopard, no integration with mobile devices and some software companies are already writing Lion only programs. I prefer to use my computer as a computer (that's why I upgraded to Lion without a hitch) and use Apple TV as my Media Player on a much, much bigger screen.
But each to their own.
Good Luck
"No more updates" Fantastic!
"No integration with mobile devices" Actually, there are more options on SL, I dont think iSync works the same on Lion. All iDevices sync with iTunes so the OS is irrelevant.
"companies are already writing Lion only programs" All the software I use with SL is perfect for me, I cant think of what else I could possibly want that is Lion only.
"I prefer to use my computer as a computer and use Apple TV as my Media Player on a much, much bigger screen" My Mini is both a computer and a media player on a 42" screen. Besides needing less hardware than you, I also can also do tons of stuff on my big screen that you cant with the ATV like use Front Row which is way better than ATV, surf the web, play internet radio, watch online TV, play games, browse Google Earth in its HD glory and, well, I can do almost anything you can think of with my Mini+HDTV combo.
I appreciate you pointing out my potential losses but it just reafirmed what I have gained back. Thanks!

For Snow Leopard. Any future technology will be Lion and upwards, but best of luck with an already out of date system. As I said, each to their own.
Oh, and Front Row obviously has no place in the future or it would be still part of Lion.
Bye

Jan 6, 2012 12:05 PM in response to mulligans missusby Ocean Digital,What popular Mac software doesnt run on SL?
About your Front Row comment - this thread would not exist if there was not a demand for Front Row.
You keep talking about the future but most productive people require products that work today, not in the unknown future.
I didn't want this discussion to turn into an argument but its a real shame that you buy into the upgrade path (especially now without Steve Jobs) and I hope you reconsider the value of SL, its superior compatibility and the value of Front Row.
Just look at what happened to Windows. They tried to upgrade everyone from XP to Vista but it was a huge failure and XP was the OS of choice for many years after the failed Vista launch. I feel the same thing is happening now with Mac OSs. Just look at all the forums where people are trying to find a way to uninstall Lion.
But you are right about one thing, to each their own.

Jan 6, 2012 2:08 PM in response to Ocean Digitalby NetApp,To mulligan's point, Lion definity took a step forward in many ways. But to Ocean's point, Lion definitely took a few steps back by removing some critical functionality. While the actual product Front Row is obviously not the future since it was not included in Lion, does anyone think Apple is going to get away from a usable 10-foot media interface?
I remember somewhat recently the great Mr. Jobs saying that Apple was going to revolutionize whole home entertainment. Can't do that without having a display you can read from over 3 feet away.

Jan 6, 2012 2:20 PM in response to NetAppby Tom in London,I do not require home entertainment. I have an excellent library and a number of good friends. That's all the entertainment I'll ever need. Oh, and I find these forums quite entertaining sometimes. Come on now Mrs. Mulligan, get your oar in !

Interesting you say that.
I love these articles, apparently Steve Jobs' last project.
Who knows, they have revolutionalised everything else.
Oh hello Tom. How's the cricket?

Mar 19, 2012 9:57 AM in response to morten911by GEORGETANG,Hey Guys,
I know Apple dropped Front Row app from Lion, and it ***** to live without it.
Now, I found Squire and works even better than Front Row.
It's not at its prime yet, but the Alpha version finds your movies, and tv shows across your network, and then somehow it link back once you're out of your network.
Squire mapped my movies and tv shows, both from my NAS and MacBook Pro.
And today, at the office, my MacBook Pro is able to playback movies that are stored at home.
It's amazing!
Can't wait for the developers to have Squire move on to Beta, and eventually Official Release.
Thank you Sylion guys!

Apr 6, 2012 8:46 PM in response to morten911by R167,I am so sad that Apple removed front row. It was my favorite way to watch movie trailers and such... Where did it go. First time ever, I am starting to think that Apple has taken 1 step forward and, like, 10 steps back. I miss front row.

Apr 6, 2012 8:48 PM in response to GEORGETANGby R167,Yeah, that sounds okay... I just really miss the original front row. If Jobs believed so much in end-to-end integration, why did he drop it?
PS Does sylion have trailers? If it does, I am downloading it.

Apr 11, 2012 1:48 PM in response to R167by KipFX,Seriously, I was pretty miffed to find FRow had gone too, but at least I won't get conflicting actions when Apple TV is on (My mac is near my Telly, rigged up to it for dual screen).
Job's always knew what he was doing, especially when others did not!

Apr 11, 2012 5:42 PM in response to KipFXby R167,I know. It just saddens me. It was the only good thing for watching all of my trailers in the same place. Especially nice that it was well designed. Ow well... At least I have another computer with Snow Leopard. Still, it will be greatly missed.

Apr 12, 2012 1:22 AM in response to R167by KipFX,Grab an Apple TV box, they are only £99 here in the UK, always cheaper in the States too. Has to be the way forward! (Although I have way too much linked up to mine now, PS3, Wii, iMac, Apple TV, Cinema setup etc lol!)

I'm just wondering where you get the time.
Don't you have work to do or is it just fun, fun, fun all the way?

Apr 12, 2012 1:56 AM in response to Tom in Londonby KipFX,I don't have time Tom, I run 2 web/graphic design business', average working day is 12-13 hours, then usually a wind down with some films or running around a field shooting people (PS3). Although last few days have been trying to get rid of this stupid Codec-M (NEVER TOUCH THIS GUYS, 'TIS EVIL).
Back on subject, a quick Google will find that you can add FrontRow to Lion, but I like the fact the remote doesn't conflict now (between A-TV and iMac).

Apr 12, 2012 7:31 PM in response to KipFXby R167,Oh well, I guess I will just get one of those. Still, it was nice that it was simple and free. I wish that they would offer some of these apps in the mac app store. Especially wish that Apple made optional free or even paid versions of the unincluded iphone apps (i.e. stocks, weather, calculator...)
