How to show dock in full screen mode

Hello,

I'm wondering how to get the dock to show up temporarily in full screen mode. When I place my cursor near the bottom of the screen in a full screen app, the dock doesn't pop up. Is this normal and if so, how do I switch between full screen apps without using gestures on the mouse? I'm really hoping that this is a bug.

Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7), 4 GB RAM

Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen. Once the cursor is at the very bottom, stop, then move the cursor in a downward motion again, the dock will then pop up.

Alternatively you can use the same principle anywhere on the screen, you do not have to scroll to the bottom. Simply move the cursor to the screen edge where your dock is then move the cursor the same direction again. You do have to briefly pause between the two movements but you can do this anywhere the dock is located, it does not have to be at one position on the screen. That should speed things up a bit and prevents the dock from appearing by inadvertently scrolling to the side or the bottom.

If you can, get a Magic Trackpad, Lion navigation works very well with one of these, I think that the days of the mouse are numbered. The numbers of gestures available with the Magic Trackpad is extensive in Lion.

If you just installed Lion and your Spotlight is still indexing this can take up quite a bit of CPU and may make some gestures erratic or slow. Otherwise it should work as I stated. Scroll all the way to the screen edge where the dock is then attempt to scroll offscreen, the dock should appear immediately. You may also want to do a permissions repair after the Lion install, this is always a good idea.

I was wondering about this as occasionally the dock appeared and I would rush down to access it and it would go before my eyes. Thanks for the tip, it works. However, I hope they change it, after all accessing the Dock has been a fundamental part of Mac OS X since the beginning. The everyday consumer is not going to work out how to access the dock this way and will assume they have to access dock items by going back to a non-full-app desktop/page/screen (whatever we are calling it). I think some of the things in Lion are great but others are a bit mis-conceived. Mission control is another; I want to see all my windows like in eposé, in misson control they all over lap and you cannot see what most of the windows are if you have a lot open.
