FATAL: role "collab" does not exist

Hello everybody,

I get the following error over and over in /var/log/system.log

/usr/share/collabd/server/ruby/lib/collaboration/service_client.rb:128:in `sendRequest': FATAL: role "collab" does not exist

According to the man page collabd is part of the OSX Server wiki.

I installed Lion server and the initial setup could not be completed successfully although the setup program did not tell me the reason for that, so I guess that some configuration steps were simply missing. Unfortunately I did not find out how to manually complete the setup or how to rerun it. The result seems to be that the wiki configuration does not exist or is damaged. Trying to access the wiki settings in Server.app shows an error reading the settings.

Does anybody have an idea how to fix the settings, e.g. where this files are located and how a default setting could look like?

Thanks a lot

Same error here. Do you also get the "error reading settings" in the Server managemnet app? Try this:

sudo serveradmin command web:command=restoreFactorySettings

(https://help.apple.com/advancedserveradmin/mac/10.7/#apd163efc3a-1465-4a44-ad2d- c76094144512)

Works when Web malfunstions so give it a go (I cant use it cause my default config file was moved). I'm yet to find a solution for Wiki 😐

Hi Scott,

The command did not help. I also tried with "wiki" instead of web but there the command does not exist.

serveradmin settings all

shows that there are more problems:

so not only the role collab but also _devicemgr is missing.

Does anybody have an idea how to correctly create this roles?

Hi Scott,

at the moment I can live with the situation as on this device I did install Lion server more to play around than to really use it. The experiences told me not to update my REAL server machine which at the moment still runs SL.

By the way: On a different notebook I already reinstalled Lion and Lion Server but again the initial Server configuration (the one that shows up after the first Lion boot) finally showed an error message and did not complete, so I doubt that a reinstallation would really help. I have to add that both machines did run SL client (not Server) before I installed Lion.
