I'm trying to import TIFF files into Quicktime Pro 7 to export as a video file and I keep getting a "The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -8970.)" error message.
Anybody have any idea how I can resolve this issue?

I've had this problem before and I think I re-exported the media to targa files rather than tiffs and that seemed to solve the problem.
I've opened TIFF image sequences into QT7 before, and made movie files from them. But today, QT is giving me that same "OSStatus error -8970." I don't know why. It's even happening on the same image sequences that it worked for just a month ago. I'm still using Snow Leopard, so it's not a Lion issue. Weird.
Ah. I figured it out. The image sequence had TIFFs that were saved in IBM byte order. Had to convert them to Mac byte order first. Forgot that I'd done that before. Doh!
I'm sure it's too late for you, but in the future anyway, that may solve your problem.
I had this exact same problem. I was trying to make a quicktime movie from a tiff image sequence but got the same error message. In my case it was because the tiff sequence was compressed (each frame was compressed) so just re-exported the sequence without any compression and it worked fine.
