Do you have Avast installed? That is causing problems for people (including me). I was able to connect to the internet after uninstalling Avast.
After upgrading to Lion, I keep losing my internet connection period. I have to reset my router. Can figure out whats causing it. All devices on the network lose access.
Yen , the killer is avast ! Uninstall it
I'm also frequently losing my internet connection since I upgraded to Mac OS X Lion and I don't have Avast installed!
I looked for Avast, and couldn't find it either (thinking maybe it was something that got installed in the background). But I too amd losing my internet connection. I don't have restart my router. The problem can get fixed by simply restarting the my mac, but that's annoying. We shouldn't have to do that.
The problem seems to happen most often when I am WORKING on my Mac, maintaining internet connection but not actively using it. I keep the apps running because I would like to think I could just click back into Safari and look something up that I need to know for my writing. But when I do, I find my internet is dead. The first indication is that my mail program gets those nasty triangular icons.
I thought at first the mail program was bad, but now I'm wondering whether Lion has messed with a setting that is sending things toppling. Again, I don't have Avast installed. Is something else cauging the problem?
Although Avast may have been the heart of the issue for an unstable wifi or internet connection the problem does extend beyond that particular program. This is a Lion issue. By no means at all should the user have to consider turning off the internet connection while writing in Word or using graphic programs. Internet stability is something that became an expectation as far back as OS 9. There are conflicts in Lion that have shown up that were not present in Snow Leopard, Tiger or Jaguar. My WiFi comes and goes quite frequently now and I have only had to do the unplug, unplug, wait, plug in, wait, and run a couple of times in the past month since the release of Lion. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next set up upgrades.
The cause of the problem seems to be that some of us have had issues that have not yet become Mac wide community issues. My machine has by and large quickly reconnected to the internet on its own.
It might be good idea to go through the unplug and wait motions, then reset your connection in Network.
Thanks, H. What I've done (and I hope this will help) is empty the cache on Safari, made sure my Airport security is WPA2 and done the unplug and wait. Maybe this will help. The real test will be when I have to resume my writing projects next week and have to let the internet connections idle.
Fingers crossed and hoping for a fix soon (10.7.1 didn't seem to help).
I had PeerGuardian installed... and forgot to switch it off. 😊
I lose the Internet connection on both of my Macs - on my MacBook (WiFi connected) and my MaC Pro (Ethernet hardwired connected). My two Windows machine, two iPhones and my iPad all work fine.
So what is it with OS Lion that is causing this?
