Hi. I used to use a Kensington SlingBlade mouse with my MacBook Pro. I am now using the Lion's trackpad. The Kensington had installed an icon in my top banner, but I cannot find a place to remove it. The software is no longer on my Mac, but the icon persists.

Try switching your computer off and on, this usually solves the problem for me.
Have been trying to remove it for the past two weeks -- many reboots and shutdowns during tht time and it persists, drat it, but thanks.
Hold down Cmd click on the icon you do not want and drag it off the bar onto the desktop and it should dissapear in a cloud of smoke.
It just worked for me for the date and time icon on my bar.
This sounded great, but when I tried it it did not work. Here is what happens -- notice the greyed-out top line and the enabled link. It does lead to the web tutorial, but no luck on finding how to unistall the icon:

Try using the application App Zapper. (there is a free trial but it is worth purchasing) When you open App Zapper see if the Kennsignton software is listed and try deleting it.
You may want to check the System Preferences > Users & Groups and see if it is in your Login Items and remove it
disable it.

Thank you. My problem is not how to delete the program -- I have a registered copy of CleanApp which I used to do that. But it did not remove the upper menu icon and that is the issue. There is no program to remove anymore, and nothing in System Preferences. This is a real stumper, but I am grateful for all the suggestions..
