How do I report this bug?
I have 4 screens of application icons on my Launchpad. I tried to move all of them to only 3 screens. One of the icons is now stuck on my screen even when Launchpad is no longer visible. This icon sits on top of everything else on my screen. This is really annoying.
A quicker way is to open Launchpad, and hold/drag any app icon until the move motion occurs. That refreshes the launchpad view.
This also seems to work for stuck dock icons (replace 'launchpad' with 'dock')
Happened to me too. I'm interested in how to fix this also.
Open Terminal under Utilities in the Applications folder.
Run this command: sudo killall Dock
Enter your admin password when asked.
This will refresh the screen and get rid of the lingering icon.
Or if terminal isn't your thing:
Hold down the Option key while right clicking (Secondary click) finder in the dock. Click on Relaunch which will be at the bottom of the context menu.
Relaunching the Finder does not kill and refresh the dock. The terminal command is the only way to remove the bugged icon.
Do you know how I can report this bug to Apple? It's been in existence for a very long time and it is highly annoying. It's easy to fix, but such a nuisance.
The easiest way to fix this is open Launchpad, hold any icon until the move motion occurs.
