Pinch to zoom not working properly in Safari 5.1

I have OS X 10.6.8 (downloading lion as i type). I updated safari this morning and ever since I did that, pinch to zoom isnt working right. I can pinch to zoom in, to a certain extent but I can not get as large as I want as I used to and I cannot zoom back out at all. It seems to be working properly in my other apps so I guess it's something in safari. I'm not very Mac savvy since everything usually works and I dont have to be, so maybe I'm missing something? Help! I use this feature CONSTANTLY and desperately want it back. Thanks in advance!

I'm experiencing the same problem with the latest update to Safari 5.1. I can pinch to zoom in or out only once and then it stops working. So if I need to zoom back in or out I have to press command + or command -. I checked other apps such as mail and preview and they seem to be working fine. I reported the bug through Safari to apple. Hopefully they address it soon.

Similar problem here and I did upgrade to Lion...now when playing games like Bejeweled Blitz in Facebook and I try and zoom the game to a bigger size, the game board zooms but the surrounding frame stays the same size or zooms less and the game board becomes obscured behing the frame...very frustrating. I'm sure Apple will point at the fact its an evil Flash game, but they still support Flash on my Macbook Pro...so make it work gents!

How is it that Apple didn't catch this issue prior to releasing Safari 5.1? Maybe I just don't understand how it the process works, but it seems to me a company that prides itself on saying "it just works", would actually test their updates.

Now how do I contact Apple to submit a complaint about this? I can't find the link anywhere.

Same here.

MBP Late 2007 with Magic Trackpad

OSX 10.6.8

Safari 5.1 (6534.50)

I could zoom in once and then it wouldn't work anymore by using the pinching on the Magic Trackpad.

Pressing Command and +/- still worked.

I deleted Safari 5.1 and reinstalled the Combo Update to get 5.0.5 back and it worked properly again.

Then I installed 5.1 another time and had the same error again.

I guess I got to roll back to 5.0.5

I noticed this problem myself today (I only updated safari last night)

I was just about to roll back to an older version of Safari to fix this when I had a thought: I recall changing Safari to run in 32bit mode when upgrading to Snow Leopard because of issues way back then. I unticked the box for 'Open in 32-bit mode' which you can find under 'Get Info' for the Safari app.

Now my zooming is working fine! The new Safari must therefore be better suited to 64-bit operation
