May 25, 2012 1:41 AM in response to donebyleeby CarloDelPizzo,I just want to make sure this thread doesnt die becuase im right there with all of you. I got Lion and i enjoyed all the fullscreen apps and what not. Im personally not a fan of Launchpad... whatever. But when i tried to play a movie on my tv while i surfed around on the internet and it jumped over to my laptop screen, i thought i had done something wrong. I mean its just plain stupid!
Who in the **** thought that was a good idea? Its a shame when a comany like Apple makes such a stupid obvious mistake and they STILL havnt fixed it!? its a joke.
Im resorting to VLC, which i use for mkv's anyway, but i highly prefer to use quicktime and now i just plainly cannot.

May 25, 2012 1:52 AM in response to CarloDelPizzoby Glennny2Lappies,Alas Lion is littered with stupid features amongst the general improvements: Misson Control is useless if you've a full-sized or multiple screens; Launch Pad -- words fail me; multiple monitors; pathetic animations on Calendar; 1980's faux leather on Calendar and Address book...
From what I hear of Mountain Lion it's not looking good for fixing the 'professional' features.

Microsoft Windows 8 enhances support for multi-taskers, including display options that tap into Metro interface features.
Apple's response?

May 25, 2012 5:22 AM in response to donebyleeby 12johan21,I wonder if there is a way to make this actually work. I mean, - could it be possible for one very good developer to make some kind of application or setting that will make this work fairly good? Or is there some sort of variable that makes this compleatly impossible?
Thanks.

Many developers already make their applications work in an intelligent fashion, e.g., VLC. The problem is that Apple's own full-screen API functionality behaves in a way that is completely contrary to making good use of multiple monitors. There is no way for an external developer to "fix" Apple's own API.

Well... Short of completely replacing the window manager...
Can someone please explain everyone's objection to Mission Control to me? (And just to be clear, this is a genuine question – I don't mean to sound confrontational.) I'm as fed up as the rest of you with full screen mode, but I don't have a problem with the rest of Mission Control. In fact, I quite like it. I always thought it was stupid that Exposé and Spaces were separate, and I can't see that MC doesn't do anything that they did.
As for Launchpad, I agree that it is pointless, and a bit impractical on a computer without a touchscreen. But everyone seems to think that touchscreens are the way forward, so its probably good that Apple is including some touch-friendly features. And with a nice big Apple trackpad, Launchpad isn't actually so bad... It's ust an oversized Applications folder at heart, with some nice UI effects and a keyboard shortcut. At least with Launchpad, if you don't like it it doesn't affect you. Unlike full screen mode...

May 29, 2012 9:51 AM in response to donebyleeby da bishop,LOL and I thought it was annoying that the dock hasn't ever really known about fullscreen. That's really rubbish.
Apple are quickly showing their Quality Control at senior management level has taken a dive since Mr Jobs left the mortal coil. It's a shame that they've got a box shifter as CEO now.

Actually Lion was designed when Jobs was there. This is a Jobs Approved feature. Who knows, maybe even came from him originally.

And what was the reality of Steve's time at Apple prior to Lion, I'd like to know that.

Just saying, there's no workaround for box-shifter senior management priorities. It may get a lot worse when iOS type interfaces come to the desktop.
