Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

AppleSyncNotifier: The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library QLite3.dll.

I just downloaded and installed the latest iTunes and Safari update. It required a reboot, and after the PC restarted I was greeted with this error message:

AppleSyncNotifier: The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library QLite3.dll.

First time to ever see this one. I can only presume that it is a bug. But any help to correct the problem will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

So, to sum up from all the posts about this issue...

  • Find a copy of SQLite3.dll, probably in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support". Note to 64-bit Windows 7 users - the majority by now I should think: This is the "Program Files (x86)" folder - the one for 32-bit apps, NOT "Program Files", which is for 64-bit ones.
  • Also note: If you do what I did and just perform a Windows Explorer search for SQLite3.dll, you will find several copies of this file, most of them spelled in lower-case only - as in sqlite3.dll. Yes, the file system doesn't care about case, but the version with capitals is the latest version of this dynamic-link library, and that is the one you should use.
  • Copy - do not move - SQLite3.dll to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support".
  • Attention iPhone users: Copy - do not move - SQLite3.dll to "C:\Program Files (x86)\iPhone Configuration Utility".
  • Re-boot...
  • ...and PRAY.

It took me until my third try to get the error messages to finally go away. That's an hour I can never get back, during which I could have been doing something more productive, like watching a couple of That 70's Show reruns on cable.

Parting shots...

  • Shame on Apple for allowing this installer error out in a public release. What was their bloody hurry? Couldn't they take - oh... HALF AN HOUR to check and see if their installer actually worked on real Windows computers before uploading this version? Some say the installer works on computers with no prior history of iTunes. How long would it have taken to check to see if the installer works over previous versions of iTunes? FIFTEEN MINUTES?
  • They say beauty is only skin deep. Well, that goes double for iTunes - pretty on the outside, truly fugly on the inside. I can understand how early Windows iTunes could be kludgy. They were just ported over from MacOS. But iTunes is on version 10.x now! Microsoft - of all people - has offered a top-quality, proper stand-alone version of Office for the Mac FOR YEARS now. There is NO excuse for Apple not doing likewise for their most popular - and profitable - Windows application. Apple needs to wake up and take note that most of the money from their chief cash cow - iPod/iTunes - is milked from Windows users, NOT Macaphile fanboys. They should treat us BETTER!

Hi. I had the same problem. Looked through all the remedies posted but none of them worked so I called Apple. At first the agent asked me to go back to Microsoft as it could be their problem. About 30 mins later I recieved a call back from one of the senior managers at Apple as he saw my case. He actually talked me through re-installing itunes (lasting approx 40mins!!) and that has worked!! I asked him if he had any calls on this matter and he said people usually use the forums and don't call so now they will look into this problem and make adequate provisions for the next update making sure this doesn't happen again!! Very happy with the service I recieved today!! It's good to talk!!

Thanks everybody! I was also getting this error message. My laptop runs vista and by using explorer I couldn't find the directories for Apple or anything below. Ended up using windows command line (as the administrator) and copying the file from there. Error message seems to have gone for now but still having problems syncing my iPhone. Like many people on here...waiting for an update from Apple...
