ical 4 won't import .ics file

I have the same problem as of Feb 13, 2012. Has anyone figured this out yet?

I tried TextEdit per another post and my ICS file is Version 2.0.

Even tried changing from ICS to VCS extension which did not work. Same error message.

This is driving me crazy.

Can you paste the text in the .ics file here? From your screenshot it looks like there are several returns before the start of the data. Also the UID has spaces, which could be an issue. Also sometines having the last character on a line a space can be an issue, but that would be hard to know without having the text as it is in the file.

Yes. Here is a copy and paste from Textedit. I have been having steady problems with these ICS files from Priority Club.

It works here.

Make sure the first line in the file is the BEGIN:VCALENDAR one and the last is the END:VCALENDAR. There should not be any spaces or returns before or after the text.

I opened TextEdit again. There were 4 blank lines above BEGIN:VCALENDAR and 3 blank lines below END:VCALENDAR but technically no spaces before or after each on the same lines.

I deleted the blank lines above and below and I get the same error messages.

Could there be a flaw in my iCal software? Is there a way to reinstall iCal? I don't see stand-alone downloads to install just iCal.

Does it matter I am still running Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

What changes were made?

Would this problem be unique to me or would this affect multiple users?

I would like to notify Holiday Inn/Prioirty Club if I can contact the proper persons on what corrections need to be made going forward. This has been an ongoing problem for me.

Glad it worked.

The only changes I made, as I said, was to remove any characters in the file before BEGIN:VCALENDAR and after END:VCALENDAR and saved it as an .ics file.

PS I have deleted the file from my site now.

Eureka!

I removed spaces Before and After last time but did not save as correct file type.

I just received a new calendar file, deleted the spaces, and saved as ics and it worked!

I used TextEdit to make the modifications and had to remember to manually change the extension file type to ics instead of the default txt extension.
