An unexpected error has occurred.

hi there,

i have been trying since yesterday to get a free lion upgrade through the OS X upgrade program since my mbp is only one month old.

At first, it seems to go smoothly until i confirm my credit card security code after signing on my apple account, then a message appear that seems to be processing for a few seconds before displaying "Sorry.... An unexpected error has occurred. continue" - When clicking continue, i'm taken back to apple store main webpage.

I have tried with safari, firefox and Chrome with all the same result.

mac min + mbp + goodies, Mac OS X (10.6.8), ps -ef | grep java - sugar

just got off the phone with Apple support and the news is that they appear to have a huge problem with redeeming codes for free copies and even for those paying for their copies on the appstore.

the solution offered right now is to wait until it is fixed.

One would expect apple to have tested their system well before making the decision to offer lion only through the appstore. instead they're asking their faithful customers to wait and wait.

not very impressed quite frankly. Not even a backup plan.
