why is os x lion downloading slow?

I have been downloading Mac Os X Lion for about 3 hours and look only 1/3 downloaded. Why such a long time to download. Beginning to think that they should have just stuck to the old fashioned way of using disks...

Poor capacity planning and poor scheduling... today is also iOS 5.01 rollout day which means 10s of millions of updates happening. The push of iOS 5.0 took a week to settle down but that included Lion 10.7.2 along with iTunes 10.5.

So you waited to get Lion update by 3 weeks? only to be hit by a tidal wave again it seems.

Why someone would "reboot" an old retired thread though... instead of say Lion Community? perhaps.

Don't believe the Mac lies. Today is November 29th and it is still slower than mud. It's ridiculous and inexcusable not to be able purchase an upgrade disk. (no, I don't want to buy an over priced thumb drive so Apple can pad it's bottom line at my

The day I moved from PC to Mac is one I regret so much. The previous Non-Mac operating system I used might have some problems, but nothing like the crapintosh. At least before I had options.

I can't believe I have waited till the 29th November to update this. I gave in after weeks of waiting thinking it might be a fast download after everyone else has done it. BUT NO! this is crazy.

I sometimes wonder why I left windows to move to this!

After 2 years of telling people how great a mac is............ I'm gonna keep my mouth shut.

Dear Mac,

You have alot to make up for.

If you are still having problems downloading, make an appointment at the genius Bar and get them to start it downloading while you are in the store. I expect there are problems other than slow servers at fault in these cases.

I downloaded Lion a few days ago, and it was done in a few minutes. It's not Apple -- there is something wrong with your Mac or your local Network.

I can understand that you don't want to buy something that you're entitled to get for free.

I also got Lion for free. (Although like others I have since switched back to Snow Leopard).

After your download is complete but before installing lion be sure you make a DVD of the lion installation program. You will find this DVD helpful at various points in the future.
