missing plug-in when trying to view quicktime videos in Safari

When I try to view quicktime videos from Safari (ex. any clip on apple.com) it just shows "missing plug-in". When I log into a different user account it works fine, so I know it's something configured on my account. I've also restored files in Library>Internet plug-ins, as well as copied from different user account and replaced all files in Library>Internet plug-ins, still same issue. Is there some other location that plug-ins for Safari would be located?

I'm on Lion, but don't think that is the catalyst for the issue. Videos had issues prior to upgrade, although they played, the control bar never went away and some other strange behavior.

In your user account check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari, try a video.

Well, LION 10.7.1 is here....informing us the "Missing plug-in" issue is fixed....

And its NOT... no change at all.

Not sure what kind of UAT testing they conduct....but its obviously not that extensive...

And no options to re-install LION Safari yourself....

So we all have to just hope someone at Apple....does something...as this is embarrassing as we cant even watch there own promo movies on there own web site...on their own software.. FAIL!

Hi Carolyn,

I have seen that you have a good knowledge about safari plugins. I use mac mini with 10.5.8, and i try to see online tv on a website called glarab.com. I install their own plugin, but after installing i go back to watch but still aking me to install the plugin again and again, as if im not installing anything. Can you help me with that pls?
