Lion Demands Password For Each File Delete

Whenever I delete a file or group of files on Lion, it prompts me for my password.

I can select 2-3 files, delete them and have to enter my password, then scroll down the same Finder window and, not less than 10 seconds later, delete another file and it asks me for my password again!

I don't see anything in Finder preferences that addresses this, nor anything in security.

Is this a bug or is there some way to disable this?

The only workaround I've been able to create so far is right-clicking on the desktop, choosing "get info" and then making sure read/write permissions are selected. Lion was not doing this to me earlier in the day, and then just about an hour ago, it started asking for a password for every single desktop action involving creation or deletion. That in itself kind of scares me...

This is possibly a new security feature as really all files that you need to read, write and delete should be within your own home folder and not at the root of the system hard drive. However if you wish to change it then do get info on the HD then open Sharing & Permissions, click the lock icon and enter your password. Click the + sign and add yourself and give yourself Read Write privileges. When adding yourself it may not appear at first so close the info window and re-open it. I doubt that this will cause any problems but I cannot guarantee it.

I've checked sharing and permissions. I even took one file and changed it so eveyrone could read and write it, and it STILL would not let me delete it. So permissions has nothing to do with it.

And other than a few apps that Lion won't run (**** that "no universal binaries" issue!), the files I've been deleting are in my own directory tree.

In other words, it's a bug. Under any conditions, it asks for a password.
