Since updating to Lion I can't download Gmail attachments when accessing my Gmail using Safari. No problem with attachments when getting into my Gmail account in Apple Mail.
Anyone with same problem... or maybe a solution?

And how do we bounce messages in Apple Mail 5.0? The option seems no longer available.

I don't want to use the apple mail since it will cost my harddisk storage, anyone know how to solve it?
I have the same problem, and it is really frustrating as I frequently send files back and forth using Google Mail (for business). I get the problem in Chrome, Safari and Firefox. It seems related to broader problems with Wifi connectivity in Lion -- i.e. I open my Mac and usually need to switch the wifi off and on again in order to connect (also frustrating).
Lion has some great new features, but these steps backwards are really frustrating!

I can't click the "download" button for gmail attachments, but if I do right click and click open in a new tab or new window, the download works. i hope that helps?
Has anyone figured out the solution to attaching files through gmail with Lion?
I downloaded Lion yesterday and since then I have not been able to attach Word Documents through my gmail. I have tried using Safari and Google Chrome with no success. When I hit attach, it will pull up files and I can click on the desired file and select "Open" but nothing attaches. This is a problem since my school e-mail is set up through gmail and I am in dire need of attaching a resume.
Any suggestions?
Don't have a suggested answer since I don't have a Gmail account, but was curious as to why so many are accessing their Gmail with a browser in lieu of using Apple Mail.
My University Email is automatically set up to go through gmail and I have no control of that.

I have Lion 10.7.3 and a Gmail account, I have no difficuty attaching and sending files, you must have some other problem.
This issue is not the ability to ATTACH files -- agree that this works fine. It's to ACCESS attachments to Gmail emails.

Thank you. That works, but how weird. Why make us take the additional step? Have no problem with downloads in Chrome; the problem on downloads occurred after installing Sierra OS.

worked for me. See the "Attachments won't open or download" section.
I have this too, and didn't want to clear my cookies.
As suggested by wbcasado, I followed Google's suggestion and opened my gmail without LABS enabled ... it worked like a charm.
So 2 solutions it seems :
1. Open the "attachments" in a new window
2. Open without LABS disabled
Perhaps a future Safari update or gmail update will solve this ...
