That link works for me in Safari 5.1 on 10.6 and 10.7. Do you have Java enabled in Safari Preferences (check under the Security heading)?

Hi Rodney, Yes Java is enabled in security. I had tried disable and enable before posting. I can see most of the page, however there is meant to be large interactive java chart in the middle of the page that is now blank.

I was viewing the exact page and interactive chart minutes before software update, and did not change any setting prior to trying to view.

Thanks, appreciate the help.

I have the same problem. Java is not working with the new upgrade to Safari 5.1. Which means I'm unable to use Safari with my companies internal anything.

Iv reset Safari 5.1, emptied the cache and even emptied the library cache and cookies. Using 10.6.8 on MBA that's updated daily. Disk utility ... etc.

Still I'm unable to get any former site to work that required Java.

Which basically means I cannot use Safari.

How do you report this to Apple?

1). restart system with original start up disc, holding down "c" key.

2). using time machine restore from non "lion" operating system. this will kill p.o.s. lion.

3). once back in non 10.7 OS be careful not to install via software updates, sarafi 5.1

4). sarafi 5.1 like lion *****.

5). if you have sarafi 5.1, degrade by typing in this: support.apple.com/kb/dl1939

a). a very large software update that degraded my sarafi 5.1 back to sarafi 5.05

6). streetsmart.com and java worked fine for me after this fix.

7), also you can download firefox, and though slower than sarafi 5.05 it will load java, and stock screens.

GOOD LUCK. my first microsoft moment with apple in 8 years of chronic love for their products. time to

sell AAPL shares.

There does appear to be an issue that affects some sites in Safari - although I am finding that most of the sites I use (including the Spot Gold site from the original poster, and "Auskey" for the ATO) are working properly in my Safari 5.1 on 10.6.

If you have a problem there is no need to downgrade Safari (which is a big job and leaves your Safari open with security holes), simply use Firefox or Chrome for that site until a solution is found.

Rodney - for those of us with only one browser installed, "simply" " using another browser is not as straightforward as that Now I need to install Firefox, which, while I like it, my preferred browser was the one that was working up until a few days ago - Safari. This wasn't meant to be a snarky reply, but solutions for you and/or other that may be simple, will not necessarily work the masses, which is why people are not happy campers at the moment.

I too am having lots of problems with the new Safari 5.1 update. My system is 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and I'm having the trouble mentioned above by many accessing streetsmart.com, the gold site, as well as many other sites that use Java applets.

It seems that this problem is affecting a lot of home users and a lot of businesses. Purchasing managers for corporations are not going to like their teams to be down without a solution for days and days over this. It's clearly a bug that needs to be fixed, and such a glaring one that I'm suprised Safari 5.1 was released with it.

I know, 5.1 is supposed to give us new and exciting security protection, but I find it a little too "new" and too "exciting." I wish I could go back to 5.05. Were there an easy way, I would do it in a heartbeat. Does anyone know the link to the Safari 5.05 installation package? (The above link by laurencefromwichita gives a 404 error.)

Regarding security, I'm all for protection of my home, but a high-tech security system that constantly locks me out of my own house is a waste.

Any of the moderators of this thread, or Apple officials have any idea how we can get our browsers fixed?
