I now no longer have access to my office software - Word, Excel etc. It says the new OS does not support Power PC applications. Does this mean I have to buy new Office software???

You are running Office 2003 ? Then, yes, as PowerPc is no more supported in Lion, Office 2003 won't run. You have to update Office...

Yes....Office 2008 will work with Lion. But....if you're upgrading, might as well go with Office 2011.

No problem....glad to help. I should have mentioned in my earlier post that Office 2008 will only work if it's already installed on your Mac. You can't install Office 2008 after you've upgraded to Lion because the installer is written with PPC code, and Lion doesn't support that anymore.
