SRS iWOW broken

I allowed update to upgrade iTunes on my computer (today).

Now the SRS iWOW plugin won't load.

Can I revert back to my old version of iTunes?

Unfortunately, because of disk space limitations, I do not back up system files or applications on my Mac.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

I've downloaded the supposedly fixed version of iWoW from SRS site, installation seems to run fine - but after opening itunes, iwow doesn't show in under windows, so no access to interface. The installer doesn't seem to install the plugin. Is this another issue caused by Apple deciding to make the user library hidden - too well hidden, because most of the application problems I've had simce migration to Lion have been due to it? Also, there's nothing on the SRS site to assist (they've taken down the warning about Lion issue) - no instructions - am I missing something doh!-obvious?

Cheers Mike. Hadn't realised it was a 32/64 bit issue - thought it was purely a Lion upgrade issue. Thanks for the nod in right direction, all is now well. To be honest, the 32 bit mode iTunes seems more stable than the 64 bit - I'll run with it in 32 until SRS introduce 64 bit compatible iWoW plugin.

I'd advice against upgrading to Lion for a while, it messes with Snow Leopard functionality that was near perfect and truly responsive. Apple are really intent on this multi-device wireless hubbed computing (where ipod talks to iphone to ipad to macbook to the world - with either airport or icloud as hub) - but it erodes the solo ability of each device - Lion represents a dumbing down of user control of the OS (like hiding the User Library because we're to stupid to manage it, amongst other changes). I'd go back to snow leopard, if it weren't for my Pioneering spirit (I love a good rant and tinker, plus I'm back browsing the community forums, which I never visited with Snow...)

Again, thanks.

SRS iWow may have fixed the problem for some configurations, but not for all. When I launched iTunes 10.3.1 and iWow this evening, I got a dialogue box saying that there was new version of iWow that fixed some problems, so I clicked the hyperlink and downloaded and installed the new version (3.2). The dialogue box indicated that it had been successfully installed, but then I experienced the same problem as did other posters here, namely that iWow no longer shows up in iTunes, and neither the new version nor the old one appear in my Applications folder.

There was nothing on the download page that indicated that any particular configuration of processor, version of OS X or iTunes version was required. I am running 10.5.8 on a PPC G5 iMac [obviously I can't upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion as this is not an Intel machine]. I have used the SRS contact page to let them know of the problem and am awaiting their response.

Just wanted to pass on what I did to fix the issue of SRS iWow window not showing up and the dreaded "Can't install because a newer version is already installed" issue. The window issue was fixed by following apple4000 advice above:

1. close iTunes

2. open Terminal

3. type defaults write com.srs.iwow ShowWindow -bool true

4. reopen iTunes in 32Bit

The "can't install over newer version" issue was fixed by copying the installer file to the desktop (to get it off the locked DMG volume) then open the installer package (right click to open contextual menu and select "Show Package Contents") and open the info.plist file in TextEdit. Change the <key>IFPkgFlagAllowBackRev</key> from "false" to "true". Save the file. Close the windows from the package and run the installer. Voila. Hope this helps someone.
