Lion and Keynote Problems

I live in iWorks and have a VERY large Keynote presentation with lots of movies (1.1Gb) that I work off of. It worked great in SL, but after upgrading to Lion, I continually get the rotating ball of death loading Keynote, random times working in Keynote, and saving the presentation. It will eventually, after minutes, clear the ball but this is ridiculous. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. Keynote with Lion is painfully slow, constantly stalling. It takes forever to modify slides or create new ones, plus frequent crashes. I should have NEVER upgraded. This upgrade is not ready for prime time. Mail and Word are also noticeably slower. My intuition is that the culprit might be the new autosave feature, which apparently cannot be disabled. Having never experienced such grave problems with a system upgrade before, I consider this one bordering on catastrophic.

I feel you. I had a person drop into the office yesterday. So I pulled out my Mac to give them a presentation. We regularly use about 15 different keynote presentations all about 1-2gb each (they are full of media).

I couldn't get it to work if I skipped a few slides. My assumption is that autosave kicks in. For some pathetic reason Keynote takes FOREVER to save (3-4 minutes). So now that the autosave is forcibly on whenever I change ONE thing it pauses and takes 3-4 minutes to save. I can't get anything done.

This was very embarrassing. I may have lost a client. I had to borrow a computer with SL and show the keynote with that after 15 minutes of my computer failing.

Help!

Do I just have to revert to SL? Is that even possible?

Just spent a couple of hours with Apple support on phone. They were apologetic and tried to be helpful but have to kick the problem up to the engineers. They mentioned that it might not only be Lion but maybe the newest iWork update that came out the same time. I then ran some diagnostic stuff on my MacBookPro and sent it to them. Now, I have erased the hard drive, reinstalled SL and am migrating from Time Machine backup from Tuesday. We'll see how this works. If it still happens, I will likely remove iWork and then update up to version 5.05.
