OSX Lion, Graphic Artifacts

Hello, after i've installed OSX Lion on my iMac 2011 27°, i started getting strange graphical artifacts on my desktop as you can see in this screenshot. http://t.co/5EXmRfL

The graphic artifacts randomly appears, without that i am doing nothing in particular.

Is this a common issue? It's a Lion issue (fixable with an update) or should i format my iMac?

Hello,

I've ordered Apple Hardware Test CDs from Apple (€40) in order to smile or to cry. Now I've to wait 3-4 weeks for them to "be made!".

I was a little inspired tonight so I wrote that song (please listen The Big Three Killed My Baby from The White Stripes)

The big three killed my iMac

No money in my hand again

The big three killed my iMac

It won't even power on again

Its artifacts made me want to cry

A thousand dollars goes down the pit

30,000 pixels are dyin'

And my graphic card is swollen

Everything involved is shady

The big three killed my iMac

REPEAT 1

Why don't you take the day off and try to repair

A billion others don't seem to care

Better iMacs are stuck in the stores

The others runnin' on your 'macs' blood

Don't let them tell you the iMac's fantastic

Cause they're all made of black plastic

30,000 pixels are dyin'

And my own sad face is grinnin'

Now my hands are turnin' red

And I found out my iMac is dead

REPEAT 1

Well I've said it now, nothing's changed

All I have is pocket change

And my poor iMac is crazy

And the big three killed my iMac

And my Apple's my common sense

It'll feed me planned obsolescence

Yeah my Apple's my common sense

It'll feed my planned obsolescence

Am I about to buy another iMac

Am I about to buy another iMac

😁 Obviously It's humor.

Also having this issue,

Brand New 27" iMac 2011 3.4 i7 16gs of Ram and the upgraded 2gig graphics card.

(all that and this comp isn't running perfectly?.. *** apple)

i have only had my computer for 2 months and use it for heavy motion graphics / vid editing. (AE, Cinema4d, FCP, ect..)

when rendering in AE and playing video in chrome and working in c4d.. (basic multitasking) i tend to get artifacts in the streaming video, on my apple icon, and the drop shadow of windows (chrome windows, illustrator windows, compressor windows, and window that the OS wants to put a drop shadow on).

I've also had full chrome pages turn blue when trying to stream video.

fought with apple care twice and even took it to an apple certified technitian in Mobile, AL.

The apple tech ran hardware tests and everything passed...

Still nothing fixed and not sure what to do.

If anyone finds out whats going on with this please update people here!

Thanks!

Am having same issues as all others. Apple Care said it was the video card and to return to nearest Genius Bar... After reading all the posts I decided that Lion is the likely culprit. While running Lion and running only Finder, when brought out of sleep mode the artifacts would be present. I've since been running Snow Leopard on a seperate partition for the last 24 hours and no artifacts. Come on Apple. Apple Care also said that I was an isolated incident. This thread seems to be full of "isolated incidents"...

I have had most of the same problems that are in this thread..

I have noticed that when I try to calibrate my color settings it goes NUTS, which really re-enforces the idea that it is the video card/software causing all of the problems. The errors are limited to finder for me. Usually appearing in my menu bars and the drop shadow behind my windows. If I restart the problems go away, but as soon as I start using any combintion of adobe products or 3d software, it pops up not long after.

My specs: brand new imac 27" 3.44 ghz i7, 16gb 1333 ddr3 ram, os version 10.7.1
