Hello, after i've installed OSX Lion on my iMac 2011 27°, i started getting strange graphical artifacts on my desktop as you can see in this screenshot. http://t.co/5EXmRfL
The graphic artifacts randomly appears, without that i am doing nothing in particular.
Is this a common issue? It's a Lion issue (fixable with an update) or should i format my iMac?

Sending back your box and getting a replacement won't help, this is clearly a software bug!
Thanks for all your replies guys, comfort me to know that i am not the only one with this bug.
I had no problems at all with Snow Leopard, the problem start with Lion, so i think this is 100% a software bug.
I am linking the problem to Safari 5.1. The problem started after I upgraded just Safari and not Snow Leopard, and only happened while using Safari, and only while changing screens to the Top Sites screen. The artifacts displayed themselves each time I switched to the Top Sites screen. They manifested themselves in different ways. Sometimes as metallic grey screen with streaks in it; sometimes as black screen with negative versions of Top Site thumbnails, and sometimes as distorted versions of the screen that I had just left. The temperature of my iMac did not have any bearing on the problem.
Yesterday I restored Safari 5.0.5 from my Time Capsule. Problem gone.

I have a brand new imac 27" 3.1 ghz i5 with a 2gb graphicscard.
since i installed lion there are wierd graphic problems i was afraid, that it was a hardware problem, but it seems, that it's just a software problem.
here is a picture of the problem.

Same problem here. Artifacts in the dock (reflection), artifacts in the dashboard, fuzzy text on the left side of menubar. Bought the iMac just yesterday and it was fine all day. But today the artifacts appear.

For me same. Sometimes its happend with widgeths.. But it happens always in Finders Folder list view, when I scrolling.. Here is shot from my Finder. I hope update will fix it.. I have iMac 2011, 27inch, 3,1Ghz i5..

I dont thik it is hardware problem, becouse It never happend at Snow Leopard, only now at Lion..
I also have LION running on my iMac mid 2011 .. and got the same problem! My dock is also 'pixelated' etc..& some shadows are ugly..
Good to know that I'm not the only one..hope that there will be a fix soon!
I also doubt it's a hardware problem. After I restarted my iMac, I have yet to encounter the artifacts again.
In my case it was like this: I've been watching a movie in Plex (it was set to "Dim" the display first and then sleep it completely), then I fell asleep and when I woke up the display next morning, it was showing these artifacts. I've rebooted the iMac and now they are gone. I've turned off the Dim option in Plex, and the artifacts don't occur any more (so far, at least). Maybe it's completely coinsidential, but I shall experiment a bit more when I have time.
Maybe it would be helpful if everyone were to tell a bit more about when they've noticed the artifacts and what they were doing before they occured.
Ok, lets see those who have a replacment with new iMac if they still have this problem or not. I'm thinking to give a call to the AppleCare and get a new iMac
It seems to me software issue, and hoping next update fix it. But also my iMac is getting slower when upgraded to Lion 😟
This is def not a hadware issue, did not happen until the upgrade to Lion on my Mid 2010 15" MBP. Before I upgraded I made a CCC backup to an external drive, once I get some extra time I'll boot from it to SL and my bet is the problem will go away.
