Sep 24, 2011 3:06 AM in response to alessandro85by jason1989,Posting this again
Specs:
27-in, Mid 2011 iMac
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16GB
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1 (11B26)
Main problems:
1. Hangs on grey screen on reboot for 30s-5m. (...with these specs it should be around 20 seconds?)
2. Graphics artifacting on the usually mentioned places
3. Vertical lines through the iMac screen. (not other monitors, disappear on reboot)
4. None of the mid 2011 iMac Firmware updates are for my machine? ....
5. Some of the pink and green youtube flickering previously described. (log out/in works!)
6. Thunderbolt monitors lose desktop picture. (resetting image and logging out/in don't work, must reboot)
7. In boot camp with win 7, played 3 differnt games and they all crash randomly with coloured flashing screens. Horrible problem here.

Sep 24, 2011 4:39 AM in response to alessandro85by Mark Free,After weeks of testing, I can pretty much safely say that for me, the artifacts only occur when watching streamed video in fullscreen mode. I've tested it on several sites and with several apps. Always happening when wathing videos hosted on YouTube, happened couple times while watching videos on Revision3. Happens in browser with both Flash and HTML5 (ClickToFlash), Plex (YouTube and Rev3 plugins) and some other desktop apps that stream YouTube video.
Never happened on Vimeo yet. Also, haven't happened with Tubbler yet, even though it streams YouTube video. Never happens when watching video stored on local hard drive, no matter which app.
So my guess is that Flash, HTML5 and the plug-ins that some other desktop apps use, have some incompatible/outdated code that messes up 6970M only in the streamed video situations.

Sep 24, 2011 5:33 AM in response to Mark Freeby alessandro85,I have the issue with simple iphon 4 video (.mov) with quicktime or quick look... And i test with clean lion without flashplayer or anything 3part app installed....The issue stil there I think the problem is'nt in flashplayer.. I think is a videocard driver incompatibility in lion.... I was tried with snowleopard... The issue never appear.... This is my case with this spec: iMac 27'' mid 2011 i5 ATI Radeon 6970M 1GB ... If u wanna do more test try with transfer 4/5 .mov videos on desktop and lounch with quicktime or quicklook.... After some plays green or purple flash appear in the video window and graphic artifacts on the dock, menù bar and on dashboard widget... Try and try again ... The issue not apper always but random.... Update please.... And CALL APPLE please.....

Sep 24, 2011 5:35 AM in response to -JeKo-by Ron,So far as I'm aware, yes - and the 27 has only Lion installed. If anyone can spell out how to install Snow Lion or even eaarlier for a try it could perhaps be beneficial . . .

Sep 24, 2011 7:57 AM in response to -JeKo-by nicholasbrave,Has anyone found anything redeeming about lion yet?
So far I know this, I had to reset all the setting to make it behave like snow leopard, tons of errors as described in this forum, bland interface (all grey icons in finder), old programs that were powerpc based no longer work.
Oh they added a button to get to your applications better, that's nice I guess...
Also, I talked to customer service yesterday and they were very nice, but supposedly had no idea about the problem and treated it like a isolated instance.

Sep 24, 2011 10:00 AM in response to alessandro85by nicholasbrave,Question for everyone: Was lion installed on your computer when you recieved it or did you upgrade from snow leopard?
My computer came installed with lion.
(I just spoke to apple about my issue and I had mentioned that I may downgrade to snow leopard, but apparently it isn't possible if my computer came already installed with lion. There are some major firmware difference I guess? I am wondering if there is any connection.)

Sep 24, 2011 10:07 AM in response to Hakko83by Gondor5,iMac 3.4 GHz Core i7
AMD HD6970M 2048MB
OS X 10.7.1
I am seeing the same artifacts on the Finder Window.
I've noticed that if you connect a second monitor to the iMac, the problem goes away. Sounds like a video driver issue to me.

Sep 24, 2011 11:31 AM in response to nicholasbraveby bill the plumber,Got a new 27" iMac in June that was preinstalled with SL. Upgraded to Lion with the free upgrade program. Luckily kept SL on a seperate partition (which has been running constantly for 48+ hours with no artifacts). For me the problem is more nuisance than anything but am worried about long term ramifications.

Sep 24, 2011 4:19 PM in response to bill the plumberby bill the plumber,Just restarted in Lion to check e-mail (did not bother to setup in SL partition yet) and after i came back after five minutes the "space invader" artifacts were back. The only thing runnning with video was Weather HD.
