Oct 14, 2011 1:23 AM in response to Quantum3by Ron,Surely, either your graphic card is "screwed" or it isn't - and from what you are writing, it's maybe not! Software . . . ?

Oct 14, 2011 4:45 AM in response to alessandro85by Ron,Yes - I'm stuck at that moment with a an enlarged Trial FCPX Timeline that won't accept anything. The rest of the prog is apparently operating okay - (imported and appeared in Event Libarary) so I'm waiting on a discussion with Apple's Support in just over an hour's time. Haven't found any of the previous unexpected stuff so I'm hoping it's going to be fixed.

Oct 14, 2011 9:37 AM in response to Hakko83by Quantum3,No artifacts around here as well.
Ron, I think you should try installing Lion in other partition and see what happens. If no artifacts are displayed, then you can migrate all your stuff from your Boot Partition to the new one and make it booteable. After that, erasing the old partition to recover that space.

Oct 14, 2011 11:25 AM in response to alessandro85by Ron,Yes. Transferred my Trial FCPX across to another iMac under guidance of Apple Support then deleted the 27's content and reinstalled 10.7.2 Lion. First internet page I entered almost immediately swept to the right-hand corner with enlarged lettering and I chose View - Actual Size to rectify. Have yet to migrate the FCPX prog back to this 27" iMac. It's at present on a 21.5" iMac with Snow Leopard - but its the wife's computer really and already there's a reluctance to "have all that bother!"
I've been advised that the computer may have to be handed into a Mac shop for repair . . .

Oct 15, 2011 10:37 AM in response to Hakko83by sven_m,I hade the same problems too on my iMac 27" mid 2011 (2 Gb Radeon 6970M), but they seemed to disappear with OS X 10.7.2.

Oct 16, 2011 12:37 AM in response to sven_mby Ron,Being stuck with an inabillity to gain access to the Timeline in FCPX Trial version, I needed to have it re-installed. That's now done and working perfectly so far, having moved it over from the smaller iMac to my 27" one, I now have the task of removing the contents of my wife's computer from my 27" iMac which I had copied over and would appreciate anyone giving me A to Z insructions on how before I make some sort of ****-up . . . !
I have to say that it does seem to be Lion with the problems and not Snow Leopard.

Oct 17, 2011 9:29 AM in response to Hakko83by post22,These problems only started for my AFTER upgrading to 10.7.2. I just reformatted and reset PRAM and they are still happening. When I restart, everything is fine. But after I start using FCPX for a minute or two, the flickrs / blockiness start happening. Then Finder becomes unusable. All of the text turns to little black blocks.
- 27" iMac i7 2009 model
- fresh Lion 10.7.2 install
- seems to be triggered by either FCPX or using my FireWire800 drive

Oct 17, 2011 11:49 AM in response to Hakko83by Quantum3,I have got the artifacts going around my screen as well since I upgraded to Lion 10.7.1. Once I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2, the artifacts gone. However, I still had the artifacts, and similar problems, like freezes, when playing video games or when using applications which demand too much from the video card, so I started looking at the video card and found that it was diying. I have like 5 days using the Mac Pro in safe mode because of this.
I would recommend you booting by using other OSX, like for example, Snow Leopard and see what happens in order to troubleshot if it's the video card or the OSX. If you have a Bootcamp partition, you can try there are as well and of course, running a video game. Another good thing, if possible for you, is taking the video card out of your computer and plugging it into a PC Windows and see what happens, even with video games. It's very possible that the problem is in the video card instead the OSX.
As a side note, my video card died since Lion.

Oct 18, 2011 6:33 AM in response to Hakko83by Anke,Well, I might as well add my name to the list here. My MacBook Pro is fine but my iMac has been rendered pretty much unusable as it crashes with the graphical glitches often. Disappointed.
Running NVIDIA GT 130 card if it helps too.
