May 8, 2013 7:11 AM in response to Darren Hatchby pcgrfilho,Same thing here. The document is directly connected though (extern. HD). But the HD is FAT32. Anyway, I don't need previous versions of my files to keep being automatically saved, I save them myself.. (here comes apple again treating us like idiots and stuffing our HDs with unnecessary files, like iphoto and itunes do..) In this case, should I only check the "don't show this message again"? Is there any risk of my files not getting properly stored in my ext. HD (which I use as the MAIN HD) because of this?? Thank you very much, I'm scared right now!!

Oct 14, 2014 10:11 PM in response to RazorsEdgeby Chez Marto,I realise this is an old thread, but I just saw this error.
I believe it occurred because I had first dragged some selected text from Safari to my desktop, then opened it using Text Edit & then dragged the text clipping onto a new blank Text Edit window.
Then I deleted the original Text Clipping file & then had tried to quit Text Edit & the "Doc is on a volume that doesn't support permanent etc etc" message appeared!
I was able to still save a version though ..
