Lion mail To Do?

I haven't been able to find this feature myself either. I would suggest using Notes and making a To Do list.

It looks like ToDos has been removed from Lion in Mail. You can use iCal to update the ToDos. I miss it too.

Yes Apple seem to have removed to do functionality from mail, which, although it wasn't very elegant, at least had some integration with iCal so we could schedule tasks from within mails. The removeal of to dos has completely broken my simple scheduling workflow. So now we have to find another mail application that can schedule with a calendar app, or there's an inelegant workaround:

You still can't drag a mail into the Reminders panel (used to be to dos). But you can drag them onto a date, which creates an event. You can then drag that event into the reminders panel and delete it from from the date. Then you can uncheck the "all day" in the reminder and you have a reminder linked to the mail which you can set alarms for etc. Like I said, pretty inelegant (which is me being very diplomatic given the context).

I suppose you could do some thing with flags within the new mail but I can't see away to set alarms on them.

But for me it looks like I'll have to go back to Office 2011's Outlook if I am to have a scheduling workfolw that is any use. Shame.

I too used ToDos extensively. After conversion I found them in iCal reminders. Have not checked the functionality, but at least they were not wiped out!!! :-)

Not wiped out but certainly hobbled. Now when a customer or a friend sends us a mail that requries action to be scheduled we can't do what we did before: schedule it from withn mail and have that intergate with iCal. As I said the intergration was fairly primative, but it was there and useful. I put up with it being primative becasue Outlook and Entourage before it were sophisticated and bloated to the point of distraction, even if they are very good at what mail now can't do at all. Still we can always add a coloured flag (without any kind of alarm or reminder).

I'll be trying the workaround I mentioned for a few weeks but I expect I'll end up having to use Outlook. Like I said: shame.

Yea is only notes in mail and reminders in ical..

Also is coming a new app reminders with iOS5 and icloud so like reminders in ical is getting more done and the ToDo in mail is gone..

So now you have nothing to do in mail just notes to help you remember reminders in ical ..

But in .me in safari it show ToDo and no reminders so reminders that you create in ical show like new reminder in the ToDo section in .me and ToDo create in .me show like new todo in the reminder section in ical.. With icloud ToDo in .me will change to Reminders too almost sure but again reminder that you create in ical or even todo no reminder soon that you create in .me in safari they don't show in mail anymore and i don't know if with icloud and iOS5 the reminders will show in mail or only the notes like now.It makes sense to me ...

My work practice has been severely disturbed because ToDo is wiped out from Mail 5.0 in Lion! Is it an upgrade, or a down-grade? Business Continuity is lost and Operations disturbed! Should Apple announce it, and consult users? Where are those development people who tested Lion beta? Why isn't there any warning before Lion's launch?

By the way, is there any iPhone apps that can show all the Reminders on a list?

You might consider MailHub, a Mail add on that, among other things, provides the ability to quickly create an iCal todo/reminder from any email. Granted, they still don't show up in Mail, but actually, I like it better.
